Hey guys

Has anyone tried out the FLM Maxx shock kit?

http://www.fastlanemachine.net/proddetail.php?prod=FLM19100&cat=23

I would be able to reuse stock shock components, so I guess what I would like to know is how would this setup compare to the Traxxas Big bores because the stock shafts are weaker. FLM makes really nice looking stuff, and this kit would run about the same$$ as the big bores.

They look bad ass but honestly I think I would just go with the Big Bore shocks. That is just me though. Good point on the weaker shafts on the stock....sounds like you have your plan....big bores...or Pro-line PowerStrokes if you can find 'em, even better.

So you think that there is not much of a difference in durability between the BB's and the FLM maxx kit? You know what, everywhere I turn, I am hearing that the Traxxas Big Bores are the best option for the price. The Prolines look like some really good shocks but they are pretty pricey.

Yeah I have never heard anything but good about the BB shocks at all...they are some solid performers. Fast Lane is typicaly good stuff but.....I try stick with what I know is good.

And what would your spring choice be for the BB's(if anything different from what they come with). I think that I am going to get a set of these, and just use spacers and thicker oil, but I keep reading that the springs they come with suck.

I am kinda surprised that no one has used the FLM maxx shocks, considering the durability of FLM in general and like you say they look bad ass.

I have heard really good things about the Raven RC dual rate springs. I need to get a set for mine too I think. But you are correct the stock springs are a bit too soft.

No problem...that is what we are all here for Ant....but actually that was about a nickle if you factor in inflation ;-)

Ofna LX One shocks are pretty cool for a 4-shock/spring combo. I have them on one of my maxxes. On one of my other maxxes, I use the LX One shock with the unlimited engineering springs. Those work really well too.
