I got the Savage X 4.6 big block yesterday and spent most of the day today breaking it in. Finally, I took it out and I flipped it on its hood (didn't have the cover on it) and now it will start but it just sits there like its in neutral and I can't figure out how to fix it.

Thanks!

check to make sure your battery pack and receiver are still connected. Does the steering work?

we need more info

It looks like the battery pack and receiver are still good. Also, the steering works. It's just sitting in neutral, I rev up the engine and it goes no where. I'm not quite sure, what else do you need to know?

thanks alot

How tight is your slipper clutch? It sounds like it may have become loose. If not, is your spur gear also fine? Check into the tranny. Something may have stripped.

I'm sorry, i'm really new with this thing. Where is the slipper clutch located exactly? The spur gears arent mesh like it says it in the manual, how can that be fixed?

This is where the slipper is:

To check if it's tight enough, try moving the spur gear on your own. If you feel that it's not grabbing onto the shaft, it's too loose and you need to tighten the nut down. If you feel that it is grabbing, then it'll be fine. The key is to not have it too tight or you will strip your clutchbell.

To mesh your engine, you have to remove the rear part of the Savage, and under the purple engine plate you will find 4 screws that keep the engine onto the plate. You want to loosen those screws and move your engine around to the perfect mesh. A good way to do this is to stick a piece of paper between the spur and clutchbell, move the engine as close to the spur gear as you can (Not too strong though), then tighten down the screws. You should be able to remove the paper fairly easy, and there should be a little play between the gears. You should be able to move the spur gear very little while holding the clutchbell. Also, use threadlock on the motor screws to make sure it does not get loosened by vibration. It's a good idea to do that to all the screws on your Savage that are metal to metal.

Thats what you have probably stripped...you beat me to it coby

I'm not sure about it, but does the X come with the dual slipper? I've heard that caused some stress to some people and caused them to downgrade to the older style one.
