Is it highly recommended to log some hours in on a flight simulator or just balls out go for it. I have no flight experience, but the way I figure it simulators might help but they don't compare to the real thing. My 800mm T-28 is being delivered today and since I only paid $95 I just want to go for it, but if things don't go well what flight simulators come highly recommended? Do you use your actual radio? This 800 is RTF, bug I did purchase a DX8.
 
The simulators we have at the shop is how we train people on flying. Yes it uses your controller via usb cable. We recommend at least a couple hours on the simulator befor going out to buddy box with a trainer. I'm not into flying but i can tell you that I've learned how to just by playing with the simulator. If you can fly the sim you can fly for real. I suggest you sim first to get the feel of the controls before you jump right into crashing your plane on the first flight.
 
I went balls out with three helis and all three ended up crashed pretty quickly lol
 
Phoenix is a good sim and has the T-28 in it and is set up for the Spektrum radios. You just need to get the version without the DX-5e
 
Phoenix is the one we sell. $129 without he DX5E and $179 with the DX5E. Its a sweet simulator with updates everytime a new plane cones out you can download it. You can change weather patterns to local and make your own as well and choose from many fields and areas to fly. Like i said before I'm not into planes but would love to have that simulator and i do play on it at the shop all the time.
 
To no surprise my madden flight ended quick, lol. I pulled back too fast on the elevators and the T-28 went straight up, I then overcorrected and it went straight down to the ground. I was surprised at what a short distance it needed to get lift without flaps.
I ordered three new props today since I'm going to be needed them. The shaft doesn't look bent to the naked eye, I can spin it with battery power and don't feel any wobble. I'm not too sure if the shaft is in the correct position, but I guess time will tell.

Looks like I'll be looking for the Phoenix flight sim, where is the best place to purchase? I seen it on eBay for $129
 
Your LHS is the best place to buy it. The version without the DX5e is that price just about everywhere. E-bay is NOT your friend.
