Any one know of a way to get flat black with out painting the out side of the body

You answered you're own question ;-) If you paint on the outside....it will cover the sheen the Lexan has. Other than that, you might get the affect by sanding the sheen off your body, but it won't look very good. If you have to have flat black, paint the outside and re-paint as needed. Otherwise....it will look glossy when painted from the inside.

Paint the inside black as well. This way any scratches to the flat on the outside won't show as much.

I have done about ten lids in flat black, it looks really nice done on the outside. Like Rob already mentioned, if you paint the inside black too the scratches will barely be noticable. If you paint the inside silver, it will look like a real vehicle when it scrathes and look like raw metal. I highly suggest using Krylon ultra flat black, (same as the Krylon camo) it adheres very well to lexan and holds up extremely well. When it starts looking crappy, just remask the windows and throw a fresh coat on and you are good to go.

We had another member that had an idea that looked promising but we never got to see the actual finished product. What he had was like an airbrush that would shoot a fine blasting media to dull the outside finish of the lexan. Then you paint the underside of the body like you normally would on an r/c. I would like to have seen what the finish would have looked like.
