I just busted my fuel tank open and it drenched my savage. I thought it would have been really cool if it would have caught fire. Does anyone have an msds handy or know the flash point of 20% nitro?

Ya must have alot more money than me to think watching $400 on fire is cool... But if ya do, be sure to post up pics..lol

It would be more like an $800 fire. Sometimes you have just got to take one for the team. You don't know how many times I've heard "I've never seen a wreck like that!" I treat my trucks like tools...Take care of them and they will take care of you! As for the money...I work hard for my money, and I believe in spending some on fun.

And, yes, I was serious about the fire. I'm not gonna try for it, but if it would have happened...Way Cool!

Wow just wow.

Are you really that...Stupid?

Even if I was making 150K a year I wouldn't find a point in burning a $800 for NOTHING, just because it was "cool"

Spend your money on somthing else.

Yeah if it was a Cen, or a smartech or something crappy like that I can see it, Maybe even a 4 tec.. Mine I would have like to see go up in flames, but a Savage?? Cmon now.

hey what u should do is get one of thos pieces of trash above like a smarttech and rig a rocket engine to it drench it in nitro and drive it down the road and light the rocket engine and see waht happens, that would be interesting, i dont encourage burning a savage tho, only some sh!ty thing u know.

Well, if you're really intent on getting rid of your savage, you can just give it to me... :)

The flash point is the MINIMUM temperature at whch a substance will ignite.. what I THINK you are after is the autoigition temperature :hammer: . The autoignition temperature of Methanol, the primary substance in nitro fuel, is a suprisingly high 464 degrees C, so you better lean that bad boy out if you want some explosions :boxing:
That is of course at normal pressure. If the gas was under a high compression enviroment, that temp would in theroy be lower, but alas our little plastic gas tanks can't handle that kind of pressure :arrr:

I wash my air filter out in Nitro in a plastic baggy, and will toss the bag in a burning barrel, and I was actually quit disapointed how it burnt. It didnt "wooof" like gas, it just kinda drizzled on fire.. So to get a car burnin, I think itd be pretty hard (Which is good).

All you need is an "accedental" lit match to hit the truck, and flame on! Fuel doesn't burn like gasoline... its like an invisible bluish flame... It burns a lot slower than gasoline...

I'm not "stupid enough to burn $800 dollars...Stupid would be running a 1.5 million dollar nascar car into a wall and watching it go up in flames. Scale car, scale dollars. poop happens, so ya gotta learn to love the poop too or you'll end up one sour old man!

I'm not out to destroy the savvy, but if for some reason it's time had come, I would want it to go out in a blaze of glory...

That is very suprising to me that it ignites at a temp that high.

I see what your sayin now. Like when I got my 1st gas plane. I FINALLY got it up in the air, and was pretty excited. So I was in the air, driving pretty iratically trying to get it under control, when it seemed like the only direction I could go was up (Which was bad) so I get wayyy up there, so I can barely see it (Plane has a 55 inch wing span, so it was THAT high) and then all of a sudden it goes in a straight nosedive that I can recover out of. So there it landed, nose 1st into the ground (Which was still frozen since it was like Feb.) I was kinda in shock, until It started smoking really bad. So the shock turned into laughter (didnt help the half a dozen people watching me were laughing there ass's off). So I guess If it was going to crash, it did go out like a champ.

(The damage of the plane cost me $250 to fix, broken motor mount, tuning pin, prop, nose cone, a bunch of the bulsa, the wrap, teh landing gear, and numerous cracks in the wings. When I walked up to it, the engine was about 4 feet away from the plane... Smoking.. )
