found out I've got to send the engine back to CML for them to take a look at it. this is turning out to be a wild goose chase

hopefully it has arrived today. no contact from them though hoping to hear from them tomorrow, fingers crossed i can get a replacement

it came back today and this is what they said:

If i were asked out of all our engines, which ones had the most "relaxed" fit between piston and liner to assist starting, i would say picco. However, this unit does have a little extra pinch, to most picco's i have recently attended to.
I can confirm that the top of the liner showed a yellow discolouration at the top of the stroke of the piston, but i can definitely confirmm that it is not the wearing of the chrome lining, and the non-ferrons metal of the liner showing through.
The engine will get tighter instead of loosening up during running-in, because the top edge of the piston and its corresponding level in the liner becomes "lacquered"from the fuel running rich, with the engine running too cold.
Eventually this can lock-up the intemals, once the engine stands and cools after use, and needs a sharp tap on the top of the piston (with suitable material) to eventually free it.
This unit has been dismantled and the piston and liner cleaned up with silver polish, which easily removes the coating.
I have also further polished the piston to marginally ease the fit to assist your next start up.
Still needs some final run-in to finish off the job, but run it in the car under load, not running idle. Lean out the main needle to give a reasonable pick up and get the engine properly warm to use the fuel effectivly. Gradually start to lean out every couple of tanks. 4-5 more and you should then be "good to go".

PS. Use a hex driver in the 3mm cap screw located in the end of the crank, and you can feel the easier fit, before fitting the plug.

charging the ancillaries overnight, day off work tomorrow aswell so can test and tinker all day long!!
any tips on getting it started initially??
I'm going to prime, loosen plug, warm engine with hair dryer. any thing else i should try if it doesn't work??

tested it this morning and i think the tuning is way off. it drank a whole tank in 2 mins, fuel was pissing out of the exhaust. it would bog down when i accelerate. i think its too rich but I'm no good at tuning, even with rolex's flow chart!!. how much do i turn the hsn each time??

Well, if it is running THAT rich, start with turning the HS in about 1/4 turn and seeing how that works, then going in 1/12th from there until it is getting closer. I am not really fussy on getting the absolute most out of my engines so if it is running a little rich that is okay. So when it is getting close to running the way you want it to VERY SMALL(1/16th) adjustments are best. It sounds like you will have idling problems while you are trying to tune the engine so when that happens an 1/8th turn lean on the LS might help you along.

thanks, i hate the tuning part!! i can never get it right!! lol why can't the engines come ready run in lol. spose it wouldnt be a hobby then hey!!
