acerbic humor look it up
Pronunciation: ê-sêr-bik • Hear it!

Part of Speech: Adjective

Meaning: Sarcastic, slightly caustic, (figuratively) sharp, cutting or biting as acerbic humor.

Notes: Today's Good Word belongs to a large family of words borrowed from Latin (see Word History). The verb in this particular family is acerbate "to sour or embitter" which, of course, relates it to exacerbate whose meaning has slightly shifted. The noun is acerbity [ê-sêr-bê-tee], which can also refer to literal sourness, as the acerbity of a pickle.

In Play: Acerbic usually describes a source of psychological pain to someone, which is why biting and cutting are near synonyms: "One pleasant aspect of the early stages of a US political campaign is that the speeches are not at all as acerbic as they will become months later." Acerbity is often humorous, however: "Michael Moore's acerbic documentaries on the institutions of the US do not please everyone."

Word History: Today's Good Word came to us via French from Latin acerbus "bitter, tart" from acer "sharp", which also went into the making of the Latin word on which English acrimonious is based. The original root here is Proto-Indo-European ak- "sharp, pointed". Latin acus "needle", which underlies English borrowings like acumen, acuity and acid, also came from this root. We see the same root in Greek akone "whetstone", a tool for sharpening things. In Old English it became agen "ear (of grain)", which died along the way to Modern English. In Old Norse, however, it became eggja "to goad, encite", something a good point can do. English borrowed this word during the Viking invasions of the 9th-10th centuries as the verb egg as in 'to egg someone on'. (We are thankful for the absence of any acerbity in Susan Lister's suggestion that we run this very Good Word.)

are YOU stifling FREE speech?

Another one? You just don't get it. If you have nothing useful to add then why post at all? To attack someone for starting a thread and then to act condesending to the staff is sure to get you on the sh!t list muy pronto...

blip.........blip............blip

That is funny! Something tells me he is more than just a blip now...

Here we go again...

No I am stifling stupid pointless comments that servo no purpose whatsoever other than to belittle someone, or cause contraversey. You have already been a blip on the radar here since you joined, now you re just reinforcing that.

What was the point of your post? He is excited to be getting new parts for his truck and your post was nothing more than an insult.

Freedom of speech, you know every time some loudmouth shoots off his pie hole they want to use that as an excuse. The is a privately owned and operated forum, hence you are subject to the rules set forth by us. If you don't like them you an leave, if you continue with your posting style you have exhibited since you joined, we will gladly show you the door. Consider this your final warning, so think real hard before your next post.

Damn. Guess he took you seriously, Joe!

i got my bits for my t maxx, bought some screw and stuff for it and and pull start and glow starter. after fitting it all and re-fitting my standard exhaust back on i pulled the starter just to test it in my bedroom. after 2 pulls the engine started.
not to make a mess of my room i turned it straight back off again. but when i went outside to test it, it just didnt want to start. after a day of tinkering today when i now pull the pull start it gets stuck and wont return. I'm going to take it to a modelshop tomorrow to see how much it would cost to repair...

I'm thinking now i should of stuck with the ez start lol

Properly tuned and primed, a pull start will usually get you fired up in two pulls.
Before you take it to the shop, charge your ignitor overnight and make sure the glow plug is good. Just because it started inside doesn't mean the glow plug is guaranteed to work again.

I've already changed the glow plug. i do think the tuning is a bit out but i can't even pull the pull starter any more. it just keeps getting stuck. its like the plastic has swelled up inside?? very confusing

Apparently you've flooded it. Remove the GP and turn the car upside down. Give the rope a pull to clear out excess fuel.
Put the plug back and try again.

Plus one on being flooded. Patience is important here. Try to diagnose your problems before you seek out your LHS. No need paying him to fix what you can do yourself--with a little help from the gurus here!
