I don't really know alot about what makes a good fishing pole. My Mom and Dad both like to fish alot. I know my mom would like a better pole and I'll bet my dad wouldn't complain about a new one either. I would like to buy them a set of good poles. Any tips or sudjestions? Links or online sales?

What type of fishing do they do and what do you want to spend on each?

I mostly use Ugly Stick's but have a nice St. Croix and Shakespear (same make the Ugly Stick).

Well I bought my dad a fishing pole for xmas since he never gets himself a good one...I just went to a good tackle shop and just said this's how much I wanna spend, what do you have?

Wam bam, I got him a nice rod a reel for like 80 bucks. It's really nice too.

As Chris stated it depends on the kind of fishing you do.
Stream, Lake, Ocean.
How big are the fish you catch?
Spin Cast, Bait Cast, Fly?

And the grand question, How much do you want to spend?

They fish for Trout. Pond fishing. So I guess most of what they catch is probably 2 pounds with a 5 or 10 pound max. (10 lbs. . . . maybe not that much). They don't fly fish. I beleive they use only worms.

Kwongs idea is where I was heading however I wanted to do some research and look for some insiders advice before I let someone else chose what they think is best for me.

Spending......That's a relevancy question. With a T-maxx the stock arms are crap and the RPM's are a good upgrade for not too much more cash. So as far as fishing rods go, I want the RPM upgrade version, but only if it's worth it.

All said I would like to spend $125- 175 tax in. Is that low?

In the meantime I'm going to look for websites for the brands Chirs already mentioned.

Is there anything I forgot?

Thanks!

if casting from the shore you want a longer pole with more stiffness for snap. I use the Shakespere Ugly Stick. I have 2 one ocean for salmon and one 9 ft MH action 12-30lb for lakes and streams. Some people dont like the 9 say its too long so maybe the 8 foot M action will be fine. As for reels I use Shamino.

how about this one
