RC Driving Style
I just got my first rc truck. A used tmaxx. I was running today for the first time. It was the first time that I ever drove a nitro rc. Lots of fun.

Please share anything that someone new to the hobby would need to know.

Thanks

Basic stuff...when your done put after run oil in it, and when your done running it, while its hot, put the pistion at bottom dead center but turning the fly wheel. Have fun bashin bro!

Welcome to the fun filled hobby of nitro cars/trucks. I am going to tell you now from past expericence that they will make you mad; when I start to get mad I usally just stop working on it. Now to get into the good stuff, if when you are tuning it and you make a adjustment and you feel like that it isn't helping anymore more than likely and a air leak, thats what I am dealing with rite now on mine. When you start tuning you want the hsn (high speed needle) to be four turns out from all the way in thats the one pointing up, the lsn (low speed needle) you want set flush with the first ring thats the screw by the gas tank, and last but not least you want the idle screw to be set at a reliable running idle this screw is by the exhaust.

When choosing the gas I would recommend choosing traxxas just because thats what they recommend. Before evening starting the truck go to you lhs (local hobby shop) and ask them for the gp (glow plug) that would best fit your truck, also a good think to stock up on is gp, spir gears, tire glue, batteries, gp wires they usally wreck when you flip. When you are looking the truck over look at the mesh between the pinion gear and the spir gear you want them to hardly be touching but not far away where the second you hit the gas it strips the teeth. Then you get to start it when you go to start it if it dosen't suck the gas for a five second hold of the ez-start put your finger over the type of the exhaust, then if that doesn't work look at your leds on the ez-start wand they both should be liit. What I would recommend doing and this is just me is tear the hole truck apart before running it to check for broken parts. Another very good recomendation is buy a manual for it if you don't have one allready. Now you should be able to give it all the balls that thing has and have fun with it just remember they will break. :)

If you want to know more about this go to youtube and in the search engine type in "traxxas tuning" in those exact words and it will give you like 21 videos you can watch on the t-maxx.

Is the bottom dead center necessary when the last thing I do is put the glow plug back in? And WHY?

Because if you dont put it down at BDC while its hot, it could cause wear on your pistion and sleeve becuase theres compresion up there and it will cause it to wear. so d it right after ur done running then wait to put ARO in untill it cools a little

So if I understand correctly.... When your done running, bottom dead center... Let cool and then do the ARO procedure.:D Thanks... makes more sense that way

when you get mad at it WALK AWAY, I've broken mine a lot by kicking/throwing it. other than that dont run your engine too hot, i keep mine around 180-200 just for backyard bashing.
Have fun with it:cheers: its a great truck!
