hello all, I recently bought a savage used from a good friend of mine, it was very well taken care of and runs great, the only problem I have is that if I let it idle for any length of time the engine loads up and dies, and then it is a major pain to get it restarted, my temps are between 220 and 240 so I don't believe heat is a problem, it shifts fine and runs really strong any ideas????

lean out the LSN, thats the one on the slide of the carb. I had the same problem.

Renegade hit it. You want to start turning your low speed needle IN or clockwise. This will lean the mixture on the bottom end. Only turn in 8th to 16th turn increments and do not turn that needle in any more than a quarter turn total from factory. You should be fine there.

CHristian, that's kinda odd because the book, yes I read to book once or twice, states that you can turn the lsn in up to one full turn which is about where mine is set and runs great.

ok thanks guys, I will start tuning the low side.

I was just looking at correcting the 'loading-up' problem. Tuning for power is a whole different story. Even then I'm only about a half turn in on the low. That is on the stock .21 bb.

the loading up problem is what concerns me, I am not to worried about tuning for all out power right now, this is actually my second nitro, bought a used nitro sport from another so called friend and the sucker only lasted 1 tank, they had it way to lean, (trying to impress me before buying) and since I didn't know any better I left it there and got to play with my new toy for 5 min, now I am kinda gunshy about leaning to much, that is untill I learn what the heck I am doing.
