A little modification with the dremel tool, and a movement of the rear body mounts....tire balloon is no longer an issue with the frame....may still be with the body shell.

Progress is being made!!!! Turns out the gear hub I ordered not only fits great but the factory gear has the same bolt pattern so I can send 1 spur back!

Don't get too excited about the a main sticker....if I bought anything for this project from a company and they gave me a sticker it went on the car. So far only 2 things have come with stickers....the hubs come with candy. .not the same

Naturally I have to go to the hardware for 1 screw...but it looks like there could be dry loctite and more preliminary testing tomorrow morning

Buy 2 so you don't get screwed again! 😉👍

Good luck!!! 😁

Battery is charging, cell phone is charging, skyrc GPS..charging, coffee is brewing....now just waiting for it to warm up enough for the frost to leave and then it's of to find a parking lot.
Last time it took 10 minutes for the cops to cruise by and make sure I was up to no good....how long will it be today??

Front wheel conversion gives me real hope for today's testing. Now rolling on ball bearings with 12mm hex adapters, a but more ground clearance which last time proved was good. Tires that squish a bit adding some damping effect. The axles I had to make for this were a small compromise. If all goes well, sooner or later I will have some custom made to the perfect specs I want. These are close.

It's time to go fill out my roll as this towns eccentric wierdo playing with a ridiculous tiny drag car in public....we have enough town drunks, and old codgers....this seemed like a good option. Wish me luck!

Looks like I am glad I didn't spend time painting the body yet....it does not have clearance for the new front wheels. So today's test will be more conservative than planned.

And I'm back....I did get a little video thus time. The first run, I spun out so hard it ripped the oring tire off the left side front, popped the servo saver, spun 1 of the plastic hubs around the axle, and shifted pinion gear over.
This time the front right wheel loosened up, I believe I have some of the formentioned instability due to tire balloon. On the burnout pad my left rear swells more than the right by a good amount. Which says my at home belting may have worked on 1 side and not the other. I did more testing than the video shows until problems forced me to pack it in for the day.

Definitely a soft compound on these tires. They may have to become the shelf display set.
the chatter you hear during the initial start up I don't believe is gear mesh, I believe it is limited power restriction until the throttle is more open. Having back off the launch setting and having the throttle limited to 50% I think it's starbing a bit with just a light touch on the trigger.

I try to stay in trouble with the cops in town so whenever they see me doing something with RCs, they are relieved, beep, wave and drive on. 😉👍

I hope you had fun! The ground is still frozen here right now. 🥶

You have a good attitude,lol
It's plenty cold here, but getting it to the point where it tracks straight, and has a more controllable launch seem like things I can still work on till the snow flies...within reason.

They do not appear to be belted. Most I looked at were. I had concerns about clearance with the frame just mounting them...so I went with the cheapest option available.
Off the wall question has anyone experimented with any at home reinforcing? Drywall, or roofing reinforcing tapes glued on the inside etc?
i use cement tape and shoe goo to reinforce my bodies, but never tires,

Starting to get somewhere...swapped to the 69t spur gear, and left the 29t pinion on there.
Got it tracking pretty straight. Git a run up to 29 mph without spinning out or crashing...progress. Now I need to get the back rubber straightened out fir a more aggressive launch

Anyone else run a spektrum firma kit with the IC5 connector that offers all this intelligent tech?? What are you thoughts on adding a capacitor bank to the mix? I have 1 rated for use in a brushless system up to 4s

In other news my testing today did reveal some very positive results. I started with a fully charged 2s battery, 5000mah, 100c discharge rate. I ran it from the 8.4v full down to about 7.1v and the heatsinks I used stayed on with the tape, and the motor never got above 140f from what I can tell.
