I finally had a chance to tune my truck yesterday and it was nerve racking. When I took the truck out, i let it warm up to about 190 degrees and hit the gas, but the truck would barely move. I check the HSN and made some adjustments but nothing. I then checked on the gears and all were ok. Then I looked at the transmission that maybe its stuck in 2nd gear but that didnt make a difference. Finally I checked the spur gear and tightened that and boy does the truck giddy up now.

Now for my ?.
While I was trying to get the truck to move, I adjusted the transmission from factory setting. I dont know if making the adjustmensts did anythin, but how can I put it back to factory?
Also how do I know if my spur gear is to tight or to loose right now?
Next, while I was tuning, I noticed that the engine temp went over 300 degrees. I made a few HSN adjustments tried again and it now stays near 280 degrees. I then went on dirt and did about 3-4 WOT runs and it jumped up to well over 300 degrees. When I took the truck cover off, it made a big difference in temp.
Would the tighetening of the spur gear make a difference for the temp?
Yesterday was around 50 degrees. If I run on a warmer day, then the temp will got hot real quick and I dont see any fun in driving an RC truck til it warms up and doing 2 WOT runs and thats it.

Thanks in Advance.

too lean I'm guessing. only make max of 1/8 adjustments when tuning. that small turn makes a big difference. and your suppose to run the motor in with the body off anyway. well for most of it. i kinda leave mine off unless I'm doing huge jumps and crazy stuff where i think i might roll it.

and i personally adjust my slipper so that i can move it by locking the shafter (small hole at other end of slipper) and turn the spur gear with my thumb. normally hard to do, but if its neat impossibly i loosen it up a bit, if its too easy then tighten it up.

and make sure the mesh on the spur and clutch bell is good too. and make sure the clutchbell is shimmed properly. keep an eye on those things...

I have the Traxxas onboard temp gauge. I put the reader cable on the lowest possible fin. Is that to low for readings? Where is everyones at?

mines at the lowest one. it has a nice rounded part below where the straight cut fins are. if u get what I'm saying

I have to check on mine again.
Just a question. I saw how some members say there glow plug are burnt or smoke from the engine. At what temp does that happen, and why would that happen?
