as you guys know i was having tuning problems. yesterday i took my maxx out for a run. nice weather and everything. well when i took the temp reading it was 335... i couldnt believe it was running that hot.... can a motor run that hot and still be ok? ok heres the problem. my front diffs are binding. why i didnt notice this before now i have no clue. thats my own stupidity i guess. so what i did was took the front drive shaft out, took the truck out, ran it for about fifteen mins. nothing major just a few high speed passes just to see what the temps would be. when i took the temp reading it, it was 235. i guess it was causing drag on the motor. its weird how little things like that would cause so much trouble. well anyway my front end will be in tomarrow. i just hope my mill is still ok after all that abuse. thank you guys again for your patience on helping on this....

did you find exactly what was causing the binding? May be of some use to other members

my front diffs were stripped. it was just enuf to cause it to bind and slip. when id first take off it seemed fine. but i guess the more i ran it the more the gears got worse, well the more i would tune, it was putting the motor under strain. i guess the first sign of boggin ppl expect tuning the needles, it was just something i overlooked. i got everything cleaned and checked. now just waiting for my front diffs to come in tomarrow. ill get more info soon as i get it all back together.

Great to hear you are going to be running soon. I use to have a bad time on mine first then I sealed the Mill up and running it was awesome!

well everything is back to normal now. got my front diffs in and everything is running good. i had to re-adjust my needles. my temps are staying around 250 to 265. I'm gald nothing happened to the motor running as hot as it did. hope everything stays this way for awhile....

You never heard a clicking? That's usually the sign of a bad diff.
I had the same thing happen with the temps, but it was due to a bearing going bad. That put a load on everything making the temps rise to over 300.

i never heard any clicking. i never thought to check that till someone mentioned it. i rolled the truck and it would drag then free up drag and free up. but there wasn't no clicking. but now things are better so I'm happy. it ran really good today.
