I used a fuel filter during break in on o.s 21tm and it ran a little lean, but I'm worried about trash in my motor :surrender

ALWAYS run a fuel filter. No matter what. Even if all you have on hand is a crappy screen filter, still run it. And in that case you need to go out and buy a better one but still....

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I actually run two filters, but the second is mostly for extra lid time like Rolex's Savvy.

+1 for filter. As long as it's not significantly choking off fuel flow, you're definitely better off running with one.

i always run a filter because i know its good..but what would be in the gas to filter out? at $26 a gallon shouldnt it be in pretty good shape?

I think the big problem would be the dust that gathers when you open the fuel can and the dirt and debris that gathers around the fuel tank, falls in when you open it, etc...

Guys today I got mine running :) but now when I open it up it has fuel cut! I have a brand new duurbo, what should I do cause I have heard good things about them.

Always run one, especially for an off-road vehicle. It will keep all the dirt, dust, etc. from going into the engine, which will ruin it.

I dont mean to sound like a a$$ but where do you guys run your filter? I put mine from the tank to the carb now I am getting fuel cut when I try to acclerate.

If it's sputtering, then you need to lean it out. If it cuts out quick, you'll need to richen it. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the filter, if it is new.

I have a dubro filter, and when I installed it new, it was almost impossible to notice a differnence with the tune because it almost did not affect the fuel flow. Now I'm sure as it clogs it will affect the rate of fuel flow, but to me it seems like you might also have that problem without the filter if it's a new filter, twocane.

I am not saying you guys are wrong. But if a fuel filter is so essential then why are they not suppled in the box with a t maxx. Or maybe i am wrong and it was just my friends that didnt, i can't say if mine did or didnt as i bought i duff truck and turned into a good one.

There are always a few extras that do not come with the new buys. I'm sure they would like to sell you a new carb when you clog the old one.
With the Big Daddy by Dynamite, make sure your fuel flow is to the OUTSIDE of the stone, and the hollow end is to the engine. It would seem that it should be the other way, but when debris collects on the outside, it is easy to see, and easy to blow off. If it's on the INSIDE, it will effect your fuel flow and be difficult to clean out.

I think it comes down to why the build the trucks in the first place, money. It may seem like a dollar part to us, but at a dollar a piece on a 100,000 trucks it adds up pretty quick. They don't want to spend that money, plus when you burn up an engine, thats just more money they are going to make.
