i have found my self needing to clean my air filter after every tank even when the track has been watered. to stop this i have installed my own filter "bucket" although it's not really a bucket. i have aquired an old deoderant can cap and put a hole in it for the assembly screw. is this a good idea? or will it restrict air flow too much? i will get photo's up asap if anyone needs them.

Cheers

If you have foams that consist of an inner and an outer my prefered method is to oil only the inner...this way you can brush off the dirt from the outer or knock it off and it will be relatively clean....certainly clean enough to not restrict airflow....you still have the all important oiled filter to catch the very small particles that get through the outer un-oiled one....I have used this practice for years and to no ill effect, have not seen any change to the longevity of my engines and also when being run the dirt can vibrate off the dry outer foam so that performance is not affected during a race.

If you have a good quarter inch between the cap and the outer foam, it will work just fine.
(Do your own conversion on 1/4". I know you use metric.:D)
About 10mm, maybe?

I have the integy filter on mine when it is wet out I know integy oh no... but it has helped out I had to shave the filter alittle they expect it to be so tight it dosnt breath.. but after I customized the filter itself i love it

this is what I got.. I know there is better.... so if you think this is a really junk filter all ideas are good!!!!! I like it because the sides are covered so it doesn't get splashed as much as the stock filter when it is wet out..
ofna that one looks pretty good the only question is I didnt see any hles for the air.... or I overlooked them...

the plastic cap covers the filter so it has maybe about 1/4inch all the way round on the right hand side near the lip to let air in. To clean it all you do is undo the screw at the front and the cap comes off exposing the filter itself.

it certainly is a cool looking filter!

I notice it doesn't soak up asmuch water and thats what I was shooting for... but i dont think you could mess up a filter structure that bad as long as you stick to the basic rules.. so i fidured I was safe to try it out..
