few questions after nitro touring car rebuild.

RC Driving Style
firstly, it has a hpi nitro star T-15 engine.

IS IT IN SECOND GEAR? when i drive it, is it supposed to make a sound or does it have any indication that its kicking in? I hear nothing and its flying past me so fast i can't tell if it's changing or not. it has an allen wrench head in it to kick it in faster or slower and i played with it both ways, and i can't tell!

IS THIS WIERD? I have run this thing real hard for about 5 min. with full-throttle runs up and down my road, and when i finish and shut her down, this thing is bearly even warm! i mean, real cool... i have never had an engine run so cool on me? is this bad or good?
 
temp it....you want around 200 deg.....if you've futzed w/ the shift point find the factory setting and reset it.....go from there...you SHOULD hear it change pitch real fast.......if it's shifting too early it might be hard to tell....w/o hearing it I couldn't tell you more than that....

bought it off some one who got it off ebay. no manuals at all. no temp gun, but i can defently tell you its not anywhere near 200!
 
Try going to hpiracing.com and find the manual. I have an RS4 18ss so i dont know if the shift points would be the exact same but I can look in my manual and give you those shift points.

I'm looking into it, but hit me a pm with the shift points.
 
ok There is a hex Set Screw(holds the unit to the shaft)

and then there is another hex screw that has a spring and a ball.(normally the screw thats farthest out. Turn(tighten) until it is snug, not tight.

than unscrew about 3 and a 1/2 turns..

this should inturn give you a decent shift point not to high and not to low.


when driving in first you should have a long straight go full throttle or close to it... you should hear your car change pitch a tiny little bit. that would be second..

basically if you hear your engine in first( you just started off) and your going full throttle you should hear the engine stop making a sound for a split second. and then youll hear it again ... its in second.. another way to tell if your car is shifting... is turn it on.. and pick it up by the handle... rev it and then go wot(wide open throttle) and it should shift after about a second or two. and as the torque transfers the car should bounce in your hand.(indicating it shifted into second)


**** Becareful of that last method, its a no load run so dont have the car at fullthrottle for very long. if it doesn't shift within 6 seconds something is wrong. and you need to fix it.
 
ok, i fixed it and it shifts perfectly!! It is fast and sounds really cool. I kept tightening and loseing the hex screw until it topped out in speed in first then it would go in second. still dont understand the temps, but its cool cause i can run for long periods of time because it cool. It has warmed up some sense i leaned it bout an 8th of a turn, but still real cool.

Its so fast, i can't steer it! I have to let it slow way down before turning. I figured this out when i went to turn while still gasing and it flipped it like 7 times and it went to a muddy ditch.

Thats because its a smartech. Them cars are notorious for handling like ass.

I spoke the truth you dueschbag. Just like I spoke the truth when I said your a idiot. You post about all these problems you have that are common smartech issues after numerous people ahve told you smartechs are junk. But yet you question why this happens and that.. Not brain surgery man.
 
LOL... O really?? Since when? If ya slap a HPI mill into a craptech it doesn't mean its a HPI.
 
I hope you know...Andy(4u2nv) and probally Zandor will thrash back. Its pretty inmature to not accept another point of view. Its very valuable, and you should take other peoples thoughts who probally have more experiance than you've been alive. I'm not a genious or anything on R/C cars, hell, I just got mine a few weeks ago. But I do understand that many of the gold members actually know something and that they can help you...just a thought.
 
I and many others have tried to help this lil clown out. When he started to clap back after we tried to help his ignorant ass, is when he was added to my poop list. Asks people what they think of smartech, and when people say its crap, he flips out and starts calling people names and poop.. Not gonna happen fairy boy. Take a looka round and she what has happened to others that have pulled the same stuff..
 
no, your names been erased..lol.. My poop list is pretty short. for the most part I think everyone in here is pretty cool, and I have alot of friends in here. I just hate to see someone in here who called everyone names and claimed "Ill never come to Rcnt again, you all suck" just sit around and act like it didnt happen.

4u is getting ate up about it cause it had a smartech TOP chassis and gas tank(have another gas tank, just got a crack in it) but the rest is HPI. I.E. mill, front/rear ends, tires, servos, radio gear, shocks and the rest of the whole deal.

everybody knows how imature you are now, 4u. you chime in every thread of mine just to do what your doing. Grow up or join RCu and have your way there....
