But i've seen two videos that have changed my whole viewpoint. First one was between a Ferrari F40 and a Veilside Supra. No matter how hard the Supra tried, the F40 just owned his ass...and the Supra did manage to briefly get a few mph's faster, but that was only in the draft, but it was still too late to catch up before the finish line.
Second video was between a Mclaren F1 and an R34 Skyline. You'd of thought the Skyline would at least beat the Mclaren off the line since it's 4wd and all...but nope, the Mclaren totally killed the R34 off the line. It was as if the R34 wasn't even moving.
So that is why there's a big difference between supercars and daily drivers
Oh yeah, and on "Victory by Design" they showed a brief video with the Ferrari Enzo running on a race track...it did sound pretty insane. I'd of loved to see one in real life. Too bad I live in crappy washington state.
Oh, and I think you need to have owned an F40 or F50 to even be considered in getting an Enzo. But it was about a $650,000 car if you bought it directly from Ferrari. But if you bought from someone else, it's probably in the $1.5-2 million range right now.
Hey Kwong - I don't know if I ever mentioned it before on the forum but I actually have family in Italia that's seriously involved in Various parts of racing. If I was rich I could get a nice deal on a custom factory Ferarri or other fine Italian Sportscar that would make rich americans drool in envy. They have a saying back home that translates. "Why are Italians so into racing?" "Well, WTF else is their to do here?"..hehe. It's true though, Italia is HUGE on all forms of "road" racing (superbike, MOTOgp etc) and Europe is huge on Endurance Racing (read LeMans). It's serious freaking buisness and a HUGE part of the economy(for those fortunate enough to be involved in it...no one is getting rich making wine or tailoring clothes for Armani, Gucci, etc). I've been fortunate enough to sit in MANY Ferrari's and actually drive three models on a track and on the horrible roads in Italy(Italians DON'T know how to drive to save themselves..lol). I almost p'd my myself when we where in Mugello whilst on vacation with family @18 years of age and I got to drive an F40..I almost chit my pants in delight. If I wrecked the car, it would have been 100% covered by the tracks insurance VIA the rich ass owner of the car. I've sat in for less then an hour(awesome) but never driven a Lambo..poor me..hehe.
You say you saw a Supra VS an F40. Who was driving the F40 and who was driving the Supra? WHat track where they on, Where? The reason I ask is because (very well kept secret) Europeans are known(especially the germans and Italians) for staging Elaborate races with supposed "reputable" team drivers to promote their vechicles to the USA. They'll denie it on their death beads but the people in the know...KNOW...lol.
You say you saw a vid of Mclaren F1 vs R34 Skyline...that's a jap spec car. Same quetions as above. Who was driving and what track/where? I'm pretty sure that I could build a jap car with help that could more then hang with or "Spank" a Mclaren on the track but no rich potential clinet of MClaren wants to c that so it's not gonna happen.
THeir's "exotic" like a Lambo model under $300K or Ferarri under $300K and then their's "Supercars". As you know, the Enzo, Mclaren etc. The supercars are marketed with the upmost arrogance to target the super elite rich. I'm almost embaressed of my own people saying that "you have to have owned two previous models to buy the $700K ENzo"...Gimmie a phucking break. Italians that market in "Exotic" cars speak two languages...Race wins and Money. I'm sure that Bill Gates could uuuh work out a deal having not owned previous Ferraris if he wanted an Enzo...lol.
The points that I'm trying to get @ here are... 1. I'm no pro but how many on this forum can honestly say they've driven a Ferrari's on a race track averaging 103mph and 2.DON'T belive the hype. Ferarris are some of the most unbelievale race machines on the planet and I hope to own one by 40 with a little help from back hope.... but their is competition. IMO the Japs are the best engineers on the planet and I'd bet the farm that they could tune a Supra ricer to hang with or spank a Ferarri F40 (ON A TRACK). A F40 that comparatively is almost outdated in Race performance. THe Italians have been ahead of the game in the past but they still didn't have "alien" technology....lol.
The awesome recent Euro Grand Prix wins have truly shown that Ferrari is a serious force to be reckoned. A company deep in it's race heritage that's taking home serious wins to back up it's minium $130K car/s.
FYI...WHen I sayed I owned 2/3 Ferrari's. Of course this was all straigt line on the road @ godalwful times of the night. Both times I was running full track boost on my RX(544@the wheels) and they didn't c it coming. Even with said power on the track, I probably wouldn't stand a chance against the respective cars with a good driver. Give me 10K and a hellava crew and I'll show you a Jap car under 50K capable of hanging with the Enzo. It's just simple science.
