Traxxas went away from the philips head screws in favor of the allens.

I think the allens stip easier and are more of a pain in the bum.

What do you guys think?

I have 5 trucks and prefer to use philips.

I think if you got yourself a set of quality hex drivers and good hex screws you would change your mind and then ask yourself why you hadn’t done it sooner.

Yup, good quality hex drivers and hobby grade tools make a big difference! You will rarely strip out a hex bolt once you grab a good set of drivers.

I am with Snookie on this one. I way prefer allen head to phillips. So much easier to use....good drivers really do help! Sure I still strip some but that is just going to happen but not near as many as with a screwdriver.

Recently went with a complete stainless steel screw upgrade for my MT2 and took the allenhead option without hesitation. I have to wonder if you may have some low quality tools at your disposal cuase I personally can't stand phillips head myself!!!

Piss on Phillips head screws!

i gotta say i love the allen head screws! i steipped way more phillips. i always use dynamite tools and i have no problem with them

can you gentlemen reccomend a good high end driver set on amain? i have a coupon!!

If I was to buy a new set today from what AMain carries, it would be the set by Axial.

It has all the qualities I look for with it's replaceable tips, color coding and comfortable handles with holes so you can hang them on your work bench if you desired.

I have used them and could not find a fault in them. Since I don't own a set, I can't comment on the durability.

I despise and would never use a set that has round handles. They don't feel good and roll around the workbench too easily.

For my 8ths scale and smaller I have a complete set of Losi's in both standard and metric. High quality tools for sure. Funny thing is that I actually rarely use the Losi drivers when I'm wrenching anymore. I always use a set of Integy drivers that I inherited when my dad passed away. Handles are bigger and to date I have not busted a tip and have never stripped a screw head due to the driver. These are probably the best bang for the buck.

This looks like the set I have.

I won't get into what I use for 5th scales.

+1 dynamite hex drivers are inexpensive and work great....+5,000 on the pissing on philips head screws, they suck!:p:

+3 on dynamite hex that's all I use and have never stripped a head ever. Phillips sucks I replaced all the Phillips on my t maxx with hex. I stripped almost every head on my t maxx when they were Phillips from just taking them in and out so much.

actually I'm replacing the dynamite set. gerbege imho. they are stripping out tony's screws after assembling only one t-maxx.

I'm using the Golden Horizon hex set. 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, & 3.0mm. For the price ($35), they have worked great for me, not one of them is showing signs of breakage or twisting from stress. I would say that if you are stripping out the screw and there is no damage, that is there is no twisting on the end of the hex tool after use, then you must have the wrong size or the screw set is a bad batch.

I have also heard that the Hudy brand of hex drivers and tools in general is top notch.
