I finally got something to replace that honda POS on my RS4.
Trans Am Baby.

While my wallet was out, I decided to get some Faskolor for it.
After pondering about with my color choices, I decided on their Faspearl Black.

The body looks great, but the thing is, it scratches off, really easily.

I used some clear enamel from a rattlecan to back it up, and thats it.
Do I need to get some other clearcoat for it, or did I apply the paint wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Faskolor is a water-based paint, so it doesn't actually bond to the lexan. When I use water-based paint I seal everything with some Laquer Paint. You can scoop up a can from your local hardware store or even wal-mart. They are about $3 a can.

I use a whole can to protect one body. I can usually get about six coats out of one can. Of course, make sure you only spray the inside of the body and allow a minimum of an hour between coats. A longer wait time between coats will give you the best results & greater protection. Sure it will be an all-day project, but it's worth protecting your time & investment in your paint. Just find something to do in-between coats.

Since you already have peeled the protective overcoat off, make sure you tape off and protect the outside of the body from overspray. You can just use some plastic Saran wrap to cover the outside.

i reccomend using some pactra paint in a rattle can its a very durable paint it holds up to the beatings i give to my maxx

dont use krylon or anyother types of regular spray paint because the nitro fuel and cleaners will disolve i the paint (found out the hard way) lol

pactra prob does not sure about faskolor but if your just using it to back the paint then you could use white also

Fascolor makes a clear over coat. Is designed just for backing and works well. When it dries it is completely washable and strong as hell.

its great stuff!! i havent painted a car body with Fascolor yet, but the one on my savage right now has taken a beating all i did was back the whole thing with Fascolor white.

The clear coat is called Faskoat. It goes on last and is resistant to cracking, chipping, peeling, fuel and impact damage.

it may be scrathing off becasue you did not allow the faskolor to dry completly (36hs) the parma being water based needs to relaese all water before being backed other wise a lacqur paint will seal the parma and prevent it from drying. thats why it is scrathing.
