RC Driving Style
I just ordered some fasglitter Gold and Fasglitter Chrome and have never used them before. Anyone use them in here and have any tips for me? Also howd it turn out for ya? I was hoping to get a good metallic candy look by using them. Ill be sure to post up some pics when I'm done, but figured Id ask for some tips first. Thanks in advance.
 
Don't use a fine tip in your airbrush, because it will 'snot' up constantly. Just mix the glitter in the clear and spray several thin coats, shaking it up constantly. Allow good dry time in between. After it's done, and the main color is added, the effect is really slick.
 
oh ok, so dont just add it to the paint? Ill have to order up some clear. I'm also not real sure what tip I have on my brush. Its just a cheapy Pasche starter one, so I'm guessing its more of a universal one. Ill try on some scrap 1st. Thanks again!
 
NO, NO, NO, do NOT add it to the paint. It's ONLY meant to be mixed with clear, then the paint coat after. Mixed in the paint, it won't show at all.
 
Ok cool, Thanks! Now I gotta order some clear..lol I just used my $20 off a $50 order and got nothing but paint... and no clear..lol.. O well..Thanks again rolex for the tips. Ill be sure to post some pics when I use it.

i added it to my paint and it came out fine look at it i just posted the pics :cheers:
 
I wasn't using my head, when I was thinkign about adding it to the paint. Its just like auto paint. When ya put it in the clear it gets a "deeper" look to it, and being in a seperate stage of paint, actually allows it to reflect on the backside..

Exactly right. That's why several coats of it gives it a really incredible look. It looks intense in real, when you move it around, but it just doesn't do justice with a photo.
There are many colors of glitter, and it's nice to find a good match, such as copper backed with brown, or burgundy backed with candy red. It really adds some extreme beauty to a paint job.

i know about addiing it to an intercoat clear for that automotive paint to get that deeper lokk :cheers:

What colors would you sugest for Gold or chrome flake? It said in the instructions that White, Black or silver works the best, but that seemed pretty broad to me ya know? I was thinking the chrome with a Candy blue behind it. Something like that.
 
The silver flakes are great with blue, white, black or silver. Gold flakes are good with yellows, gold or browns. There's also a pearl flake, but that's tough to match since it sparkles with pinks and aqua as well as white. I think I have 5 or 6 different colors of flakes, so I have good choices.
There's also the blue flake which pretty much only goes with blues. Same for the burgundy. (that one's beautiful, and it's going on my next paint job with candy apple paint)
I put the bottle of flakes next to the paint bottles till it hits me with a nice combination.
If you're not quite sure, just do it on a scrap piece to check it. Same thing though, do it in reverse for the proper effect, and allow it to dry completely.
I did an entire body, and was very dissappointed in the effect. 2 hours later, when everything was dry, it was absolutely beautiful.

Which "Clear" do you mix this glitter with?
I have 3 different tubes of glitter, & have never tried it. I thought I had heard that you can use FasKoat, but I may be wrong...
