I think its time for me to get a fail safe Unit for my Savage 4.6. I had some mishaps where it just let go, but i was able to gain control of it before anything bad happened. I'm one lucky man lol...

I was looking at the Ofna Micro Fail Safe Unit and the Futaba Micro Fail Safe Unit

,and was wondering how good both are? I'm not looking for anything high tech, like the Venom Smart temp etc, just a small micro fail safe that does not have that time lag, if you know what I'm talking about? I have a Venom Smart temp and when connected the throttle has a .25/.5sec not to be exact, delay for some reason... anyhow, I just want experienced peoples opinions that have a fail safe that would like to recommend and is a reliable fail safe that won’t go buzurk on me or start to glitch for no apparent reason as i have experince that before lol.

thanks in advance.

I use the ofna one on all my rides and have never had a problem. Simple to use small so you can put it just about anywhere.

I have not noticed any delay while running them.

Either one is good. I use both the Ofna Micro failsafe and the Futaba FSU2. What's nice about the Futaba unit is that you can set it for use with either a 6v rechargeable pack or 4 AA batteries. I'd suggest using a rechargeable pack, regardless of which one you use.

I just replaced the factory (defective) CEN failsafe in my Genesis LE. I used the micro one that Ofna makes. Haven't had a chance to drive with it yet, but when benchtesting it seems to react pretty quickly and didn't have any of the poorcentering or twitchiness problem I was having with the CEN unit.

I have the Ofna on my touring car and a Dynamite on another. Both work quickly...

I don't have a failsafe on the Savage yet, but I'll probably go with the Dynamite again. A bit smaller (and we know how tight the Savy radio box is) and a few bucks cheaper...

Hope this helps...

Not to jack the thread, but are these failsafes designed for battery/radio issues or temp issues? Is there a failsafe that handles both?

Sorry MNM, but I had the same thing happen on my Revo the other day. Like you, was lucky to reign it in, but I don't want to risk it.

The Venom Smart Temp Failsafe does both.

yes that venom fail safe is great, i have it in my rs4 sedan car. only little bad thing about it is it has a lag in time when connected inline with the throttle servo, but still its a really good fail safe, that can be adjusted to stop your car at a certain temp, and or if you loose transmition between your radio and reciver...

Great buy!

What delay are you talking about? Delay in the failsafe kicking in, or a slower response time in the th. servo? I have never heard of this? Is it just the smart temp unit thatis like this? I am using a regular Venom failsafe on both of my rcs with zero problems, have had them kick in a few times as well!!! (low rx batt)

With mine I had a slower response time in the th. servo... while using the stock AM radio, I'm pretty sure its not from the radio, as I tested it with out the smart temp connected inline. Anyhow that might change once I get the FM receiver for it that will work with my MX3S syth. This is just something I have experienced with the smart temp, other than that it’s the best fail safe unit I have ever had!
