I'm still using the ez start system on my 3.3, but it has developed an interesting issue. I put the wand in and hit the button, and it cranks the engine once or twice, then free spins. I changed the OWB with the letters facing the engine. It was working just fine the other day, then the next time it wasn't.

Any ideas?

Maybe checkout the gears in the housing, or maybe there is some slipping on the electric motor's output shaft ?

It did this before, but it fixed itself some how. I'll go over the gears and everything tomorrow when I have light

Check the shaft leaving the engine that the OWB is riding on.
While you have it apart give the OWB a good cleaning even though it is new.
Check those gears and have another go at it and let us know how things go.

It is positively the OWB. Take it out and slosh it around in denatured alcohol and dry it thoroughly. While it's out, wipe the shaft with DA and then reassemble.

If this becomes a common problem and you get tired of removing the EZ start motor to clean it you may want to look into doing this mod.
