I've had a t-maxx 3.3 for a little over a month and my e-z start electric motor locked up. i thought it was weird for it to malfunction so fast. has anyone else had a problem with it?
 
Is it the motor, or the engine itself? Are the batteries freshly charged? are the wires connected, and do not have any breaks?
 
Whatever 21RC10GT says. Also check that there is nothing that fell into the motor can itself to interfere with normal operation.
 
can you turn the flywheel backwards? probably just a dead spot on the commu... comiu... a dead spot on the motor. lol if you need one, I have a spare laying around I could give you. lmk
also yes I have, I did what I sudgested above and it worked again.
 
i checked all of that stuff. i took the ez start motor and gears off of the engine and tried to engage it, but i can only feel it clicking or trying to work in my hand. i took the motor off the gears and tried to turn it by hand and it wont budge, so i bought another ez start motor and put it on and it works fine now. i just thought it was odd that it locked up so soon, i have only had it about a month and a half.
 
hey big phil, died you have any problems with your belcrank hitting your carb on your 3.3? like I said, I have a couple of spares on the motors give me a call and we can run into each other and I will give you one, I am going to all pull start. I think I sent you my # if not I will shoot it to you again. I work in lewisville so if that is closer...

no i don't think i have had any problems with the belcranck hitting the carb. i appreciate the offer with your spares i will keep that in mind next time. i still have your number, we still need to meet up one of these days and go bashing.

no it wouldn't do anything. the electric motor itself was locked up, i replaced it and it works fine now. i was just wondering if anyone else has had that problem so soon, i have only had it for nearly 2 months. i thought the starter motor should last longer than that.
 
I didn't have an issue so soon, but I did manage to lock my motor up. As it turns out, I got mud and grit into the motor through the vent holes while I was bashing through some mud puddles. Used electric motor cleaner and flushed out the debris while using the EZ Start controller to turn the motor. After flushing out all the debris (an there was a LOT) the motor ran fine until I swapped it for a pull start.

that is odd, because i have never ran it thru mud or anything. i always blow the whole truck off with compressed air to get any dust off it. i guess i just got a defective ez start motor.
 
i had a ezstart go bad on a jato about 2 1/2 months old and got a new one
i asked that question and i was told very rasr to go bad
