when i plugged my ez start to the tmaxx tonight it would give two chugs and then i could hear spinning inside either the OWB or the EZ start gears?
just want to know is there like a slipper clutch inside that thing that slips if the compression is too high for the inside of the engine?
on top of that i have a bad connection in the blue wire that leads to the glowplug so can never really tell if its hot or not.
to finish off on it all the EZ went flat after so many attempts!
seriously
would a pull start be better for me or are they too hard to start using the ould manual torque and glow ignitor method?
seriously i dont have the hinderance of running on batteries?
anyone converted to pullstarts and how did they get on?
is my OWB banjacked
is the gears in my EZ start banjacked?

basically what i hear is kerg-kerg-kerk-heeeeeoooou-kerk-heeeeeooouu.

First off I admire your sound effects, verry good sir you are a tallented individuall and I hope to read more, ....ditch the cheesy start, get a good igniter and pullstart and be done with it,I ditched the starter years ago and never looked back

I do still have an easy start on a few trucks but only because I have about 6 extra ez starts and I still always use a glow plug igniter. But IMO pull starts are way nicer. I have thought about roto starts so if anyone has any opinions there I'm all ears. Couple nice things to consider no wand no batteries no worries. I have a couple igniters one is battery operated that's a great back up.

I have the same problem with my ez start on my maxx, I'm not sure if the ez start motor (from 2.5 maxx) is not strong enough to turn the 3.3 engine over, I know that the new ez start has an upgraded motor so it would spin the 3.3 more easily. What I usually do is warm the engine up with hairdryer and it spins it over no problem. i also use glow igniter the blue wire just kills the ez start wand battery

The ez start motor is the same one on all 3 trx engines 2.5 2.5R and 3.3. Nothing is upgraded on the 3.3 ez start to make it stronger. Same part number for all these engines. Your one way bearing may need cleaning. Just remove it a carefully spray it with wd40 a few times to remove any gunk built up in it. Be careful not to lose any of the rollers inside the bearing. The one way gets gummed up from oil over time and it causes it to slip on the starter shaft and cleaning it occasionally usually fixes this problem.

certaintly hotrodrob I'm a very descriptive lad haha and i like to make good use of phonetics and onomatopoeia where possible it expresses my mood far easier than emotes ever could.;)

right so thats it the cheezy thing can take a hike. i initally liked it for the convienence of never having to take the shell off, but i just about have to do it anyway to blow the fuel up the pipe.
glow ignitors arn't big cumbersome things that fall out of your pocket and fly apart everytime you bend over either.
Just wanted to know was there a special reason that traxxas decided to create a EZ-start, was it born out of necessity, like the engine being too tight to pull start or somethin' along those lines.

Personally, i think they put the ez starter on just for bragging rights. I got rid of it and have had a pull start since, i like the fact that all i have to bring with me is fuel. I also installed an on board igniter.

Onboard igniter?:whhooo:
why was i not informed this marvel existed
ill have to have a rummage around ebay.

wonder if they'll get around to inventing a onboard temp gauge that reads engine temps and adjusts fuel air mix accordingly ECU.

The only thing that is stopping me from going the pullstart/glow ignitor route is the fact that I would have to take the body off to start it. The only time I take the body off my rig is when I'm done bashing. Unless I need to make an adjustment to the LSN, which isn't often. Plus, I have never had an issue with the ez-start.

I dont take the body off to start mine, i push a button to start the glow igniter, i pull the handle that is attached to a small box on the back of the eng, it spins the crank and off i go.

The losi ross is intriguing but it sounds like you need an additional Rx pack for it plus the electronics. My Tmaxx is heavy enough and my .15 pro is gonna hate me for having to push it around :D. I wouldn't have a 3rd channel for reverse either.

I gotta say though, remote starter would be the best thing ever if I didn't have to worry about weight and reverse. Maybe I'll do it with my pede...

i was lookin at the losi R.O.S.S last night. could use the reverse channel switch to do it as i went with a FOC i also saw a video on youtube on a fella wiring up another switch to his TX for the ROSS.
but what voltage would you have to have the truck runnin for that?
still 6V or higher?

imo the pull start is the way to go the only thing you have to keep on you is the glow igniter.

Yup,igniter is front pocket friendly too, less to carry and your rig is lighter as well
