EZ Start Problems

I just installed a new EZ start and when i try to start it, it doesn't crank the engine. The EZ start motor just freewheels. Could it be the one way bearing?

more than likely its the one way bearing. Make sure that the one way bearing is installed the correct way. Take it out and flip it and see if that works. If it doesn't you can try cleaning it with wd-40 as a quick fix but it may start slipping again

Sure sounds like the bearing, the lettering on the bearing should be facing towards the engine. If you have it in backwards it will freewheel.

They do recomend cleaning them with denatured alcohol, and lubing them with synthetic oil.

I clean em with petroleum ( car gas ) and dont lube em myself.

I clean them with denatured alcohol and lube with WD-40 and I rarely have problems with them. Sounds like you put the bad boy in backwards. We have all done it....one worries. When you put it on make sure it grabs when you turn it clockwise as viewing the engine from the rear.

the only other thing could be if you put the pos. and negetive wires on the wrong prongs on the ez start motor it will make it winnd up backwards.. just an idea to check.

True Matt....I have not done that one actually but you could pretty easy. That would be easier than pulling everything apart if it was the issue.

I have seen it done a couple of times. took me a few to actually look at how they hooked up the wires.

i dont like the ez start. i think thats why my bearing poop itself. its too easy as a noob to just keep spinning it if it doesn't start straight away.

pull start makes u think cuz u dont wanna sit there for 10min pulling the dam thing

YES--if you can read the lettering there is your problem
