RC Driving Style
I've had the T-Maxx for about 2 and a half years now and I've had minimal problems with my EZ-Start. But now I can't even get the damn thing to turn the engine over. The motor is fine and power is supplied, but the one way bearing keeps slipping...

Any ideas... besides getting a pull start?

I am frustrated with it right now cause I spent all day trying to get the damn thing functional after 6 months of no action. so I didn't go through all the threads, I'm hoping someone will be kind and answer my question.
 
well the only thing you could do is take ur backplate off soak it in some alcohol for awhile and clean all the dirt/oil out of there ez starts then it should stop the slip for a little while. Another thing that I've seen people do is make a small hole in there backplate so they can put nitro cleaner in it to clean the bearing without takeing everything apart. Besides that theres not a whole lot you can do about it seeing that you can't put a box starter on a maxx......(+and if it keeps slipping you might need to get a new 1 way)

I agree with what Reptile said, with a few things to add. take like a q-tip with some type of cleaner and stick it in the oe way bearing to clean that out, let it dry. make sure u put a little bit of grease on the shaft, because other wise the one way bearing will wear down on the shaft. o yea i tried that put a hole in the case and spray some nitro cleaner in there. doesn't work. just lets more crap in ur enigne.

I would suggest just replacing it. There like $5. I had the same prob and tried to just clean it and it worked for a couple days then was back to where I started. Id just get a new one, but make sure before you install it that you ruff up the shaft a little bit with some light sand paper. Keep us posted on how it works.
 
Alright, thanks for the advice guys. I've tried the hole in the backplate and it worked for a bit but now it's just slipping all the time. I will replace it and possibly the backplate too just to keep dirt out of it.

And, does the new EZ Start work better than the first?
 
Well, I took the one way bearing out and soaked it in Carb and Choke cleaner since that was pretty much the only thing I had... I also took some fine sand paper and scraped the bar the bearing goes on (don't know the name off hand) and now it works just fine.

I've also had mine just over 2 1/2 years. I only had to do it twice. Take out the bearing, and slosh it around in rubbing alcohol, and blow it dry a couple of times. Make sure you put it back in the same way it came out.

eh sorry i forgot to include the person who put the whole in there backplate used like fuel inlets(those silver caps you put your pressure line into on ur exhaust ) so that it would block dirt and stuff getting inside..
