I have been having a problem lateley with my ez start. the batterey is charged, and there is power going to the motor, but it is not spinning. Earlier that day i was bashing and my truck was really dirty, and i used a siphon sprayer to shoot denatured alcohol at the truck to blow all the crap off. would this be a problem. How many people think i should just go with the pullstart? is it pretty hard to pull?
Thanx for you reply

Pull starts are easy to pull. If you're not very good at tuning, keep the easy start until it starts quickly. Otherwise you will be doing a lot of yanking.

Check the connections at the motor, the red and black ones sometimes slide off. Also sometimes the tabs on the EZ motor break off, loosing connection.

If you haven't had any trouble with the E-z until now keep it. I love the E-Z start so much I bought a new one when mine wore out.

does the ez-start motor spin? if it does and the engine doesn't turn over, u could need to clean and lube ur one way bearing.

no the motor is not spinning. i am really good at tuning, i have tuned all of my friends car to last long and rip, i probably will go with a new pullstart. it just seems easier, and it looks much nicer without that cluttery wires and motor on the engine. but i would like to sell the easy start if i can get it working. any other ideas guys? has anyone ever blown there e z start motor from denatured alcohol? btw, my truck looked new in maybe 5 minutes! YAY, BUT IT can't START!!!!

i have burnt up a ez-start motor trying to turn over a brand new trx .15 engine. i then switched to a pull start and have never looked back. and ur positive the wires are touching the tabs on the motor? u could try to crimp the wires on the tabs witha pair of pliers of somethin. o yea are ur batteries charged? lol.

i checked all of the connections, and i just dont get it. I'm going to go with the pul start!

When you hold the start button, are both lights on? If you continue to hold, does the motor get hot? There are cooling slots on the motor can, and there's always the possibility that a piece of gravel got into the motor and is keeping it from turning. If this is the case, it will heat up real quick when you hold the start button.
I prefer the easy start. I had to tune a guy's Ofna 3.5 today, and when there's a problem with an engine, it's no fun to pull that rope 20 times.
Other than that, I seriously doubt the motor is shot without any previous warnings. Probably just a bad connection somewhere. Might be something as simple as dust between the brushes and the commutator. Blow it out with air. If it still isn't working, take out the motor and spin it in both directions by hand to see if anything got inside it. Leave it out and hit the button again. If it spins freely now, it's in the gears.
I'd take the easy start apart after doing the above button check, and then see if maybe you chipped a gear and that's what's locking it up. (the motor would still get hot if that's the problem.)

checked the motor, is getting hot, checked the gears, no chipped teeth, to get all the crap out i chot a crapload of denatured alcohol into it, then poop it with my air compressor at 110 psi AND NO LUCK....
Thats it, getting the pull start, BUT i do want to sell my e z start, IF i can get it working

The motor is getting hot? Then that's the whole problem. When the motor was out, could you spin it by turning the pinion gear in either direction? Unhook it from the wires, hold it with the pinion gear down, and bang it against a block of wood. I'm thinking there's a piece of gravel in there that's lodged between the armature and a magnet. Tapping it might dislodge it, and bring it down to where you can see it and get it out.
