Ok, was all set to light the fire at the good old bmx track today, but there was no fire to be lit. Had new glo plug, good fuel pressure, freshly charged battery, and still nothing. The light on my ez start was coming on, so it should have been heating the plug. I even tried my spare ez start, and 2 other plugs, but nothing. The only thing I can think of, was if there was an open somewhere under the sheathing of the blue wire that I couldn't see. And yes, I still have great compression, only about 3/4 of a gallon run through so far.

My question is this: I talked to the dudes at my LHS, and they say that they've heard of ez starts just not putting out the juice to heat the plug enough. Are they just trying to sell me a glo plug igniter, cause I gotta tell ya, I'm about 80% of the way there. Since I got the truck, I've gone through about 5 plugs. Before, when I had a bad plug, it wouldn't fire up well but it would still sputter a bit. I'd change the plug, and it'd be fine. Today, nothing.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

After a time, the old style e-z start just doesn't have the oomph to get a cold plug going. A seperate glow ignitor is an easy solution. If you have the new e-z start (ie the new 2.5 T-Maxx), then I can't really speak to that.

My recommendation is to dump the blue wire and get a good quality glow ignitor. You'll be happier in the end.

Thanx guys. Took your advice and bought an igniter (and a couple new plugs), and it fired up no problem at all. Now it's time for some titanium turnbuckles.

Looks like it is my turn to agree with NCNitro. I also replaced my turnbuckles fairly early on with the Ti version. Haven't had any problems since.
