I got the ez start motor on my 2.5 and the starter will only turn the motor over a couple of times, then the starter motor is the only thing turning over. But the ez start will turn the motor over when the glow plug is out as much as you want it to. Its like when the motor has compression in it, the ez start motor wont turn it over. Any ideas why this is?

Are you sure the starter motor is still turning? I would suggest a good motor cleaning... Or maybe your glow plug is too long? :D

yea I'm sure the motor is turnin, are you talkin about cleanin the actual motor or the starter motor?

to check to see if the electric starter motor is turning, just reverse the electric wires. the motor should spin the gears in the gear box, but not turn the engine. i rewired my ez-start to get power from my street truck battery, seam to work fine. i can spin the engine for minutes on end.

Rolex hit it on the head. Sounds like your one way bearing is slipping. If you take the glow plug out it will turn the engine over because there is less resistance. So a denatured alcohol bath for the bearing....use a wetted paper towel to put in the bearing and work it back and forth to get all the oil out of it. As Rolex said clean up the shaft and even inside of the ez-start where the bearing sits too. When you put it back together put a couple drops of WD40 in the bearing and try it again. That should get you going!
