For a late birthday present my grandparents got me a gift certificate for TowerHobbies. Most of the stuff I bought was for my Maxx. Out of the several things purchased one of them was the AE Factory Team Shock Set and the matching aluminum shock caps.

Everything arrived yesterday and I started assembling late last night and continued today when I got home from work. Just after I finish building the last shock I thought I would read thru the directions again before I oil them up.

I noticed that I was supposed to pour a lil oil on the shock parts before I install them into the body. So I decided to start dissembling them so I could do it right. Well that was a bad idea. 12 of the 16 red O-rings are shot. It looks like the friction of installing them with no oil took its toll on them. :( And of course AE didn't give me any extras.

So at this moment I am kicking my self in the butt and going to get on the phone with the LHS and pray they have a rebuild kit. :(

Moral of the story? READ THE DIRECTIONS

Not being an RTFM man myself I completely undertand your pain. I have had more than one project bite me in the ass for that very reason.

But...you would think i would have learned to RTFM by now right?

NOT!!!

That is the kitten you just killed by doing something stupid like not reading the instructions!

LOL - just kidding man - that sucks, bet it wont happen again, though, will it?

WAHOO!!!! Just got off the phone with the LHS. They have a few rebuild kits in stock. What is even better is that they are only like $4.50 per kit. Each kit will rebuild 4 shocks. They also have just the red O rings for like $2.50.

You don't need a rebuild kit!
You can get just the O-rings. They are only a couple of $ for a bag full. I use the blue MIP rings. You can use shock oil to pre lube them or get a tin of Green Slime. It works great.
