Exhaust Pipe Issues

:help: I'm new to this! After running for like 3 days, my .18 vertex engine melted a hole in the exhaust pipe back close to the manifold! What would cause this? The needle valve is out like 3 turns, and if I try to turn it in any to lean out the fuel it doesn't run, Isn't this a little to rich? Would that have caused my pipe to melt? I'd problably be better off with an aluminum pipe right?

I can't say I've ever heard of a pipe melting. I have to assume you're running the engine too lean which will cause the running temperature to be very high. I would suggest that if you're really into running nitro, buy a simple infrared temp guage to make sure you're monitoring your temps while tuning. And since you now have to replace your pipe, pick up a nice aluminum one.

Don't check the manifold, check the head temp, because manifold temp will be very HOTT! And who makes that motor?

Ok, i will do that, but does anyone know what optimal running temperature should be? All I know about it, is the truck was made by Himoto Racing. The only thing I know about the engine is it is a Vertex .18 engine.
No the pipe wasn't touching the manifold. It blew out the back section, about an inch from the manifold, facing the carb. I have since replaced it with an aluminum pipe. The one I had the problem with was the oem plastic one.
