I run them on both my Savage SS and my Maxx, It does help keep a fair amount of oil from getting all over everything. But in no way does it keep it all off. My SS also seems to run just a tad better with it on too, I don't know exactly why, maybe it changes the backpressure just a bit, enough That it is a noticable difference, at least to me.

I use one on my Maxx and works fine keeping the oil residue off my tires and everything else.

IMO. It is cheap. So why not give it a try. I have em in revo and maxx. It does help keep your truck clean.

I use them, or something like them. They really do help at keeping the crap off your truck. Also, in an emergency, you can pinch them (without burning your fingers) to kill the engine. Not a really good way to kill the engine since it floods the crap out of it, but on a run away, it's a lot better to flood it than let the engine self destruct!

I wouldn't say they make the rc quieter as much as they take the sharpness out of the exhaust note. It isn't like a silencer or anything, just kind of takes the edge off.

I use one but I just use some silicon type hose that I cut to length it works great. And Olds is dead on I have noticed that it does not make my engine quieter it just takes the edge off. Like with my MIP it has a sweet mattalic buzzing sound that the plastic pipe does not have but with a deflector it kind of soften the buzzing sound if that makes sense. Baldie if u get on be sure to use a zip tie I lose mine all the time

I was told by my local hobby shop that these exhuast deflectors make the tmaxx lose some power. Has anyone experienced this?

No I have not experianced with this it has never happend to me and I have used a difflecter that is 5in long and not noticed anything but abit more back pressure but not anything more then that

I have used em. and Lost a few of em bashing. After loosing 1 in the mud/weeds and one in the snow. I havent botherd to get one with this maxx.

I just found a dubro on E-Bay for .99. I figured "why not?"

Hey all, I put one of these on a week ago and found it to make a huge difference. In my opinion its the cheapest effective upgrade I made. My maxx runs like an animal now and its cleaner. The one I bought was for airplanes and is about 3in long with a 45 degree angle. I also think it sounds better. If you get a new body you can cut it to fit snug on the deflector to help keep it on. hope this helps.

I have recently added a deflector for Airplanes also from Towerhobbies.com got a three pack for cheap... 3 different diameters and cheap... truck extremely cleaner... have new xtm .18 with conversion kit where exhaust route straight down and added the deflector at a 45 degree angle down and back out the center of the truck. sits above the skid plates enough to keep from mashing.... fab item for cheap!

Yeah, they do help keep the truck cleaner. I dont use one right now, but i will be after i get my truck set up to my liking. I have one on my rc10gt, and the tires are not all grimey and sticky with the exhaust anymore!

WOW, this is an old thread. So seven years later. who is still running a deflector.

I put one on my new 2.5 from the get go. I really have never taken it off to see if it runs any better without it. I need to test it. The deflector that I bought has the same ID as the exaust pipe. (so its small). I would agree that it gives more back presure and makes the truck run much better.

Anyone notice a differance in power with a deflector?
