Hey peeps! :)

Ok i'm pretty decided that i want to get a savage now... unless i come accross a super sexy revo or t-maxx.. i guess.... anyway...

The question i wanna ask is (and i promise i did try to find this out beforehand) does the savage 25 come with a 4.1 engine as standard?

since it's a 4.1 does that mean it's faster then a revo or t-max 3.3?

i bet this question is totally dumb and i really do apologize... i would just like to know

also what does the 'x' mean in savage x?

thanks in advance

Hey! like i told somebody just an hour ago, there is no dumb question here. Ya the 4.1 is a bigger block than the 3.3. Not sure if the Savage 25 is a f4.1, i think so but, somebody prob know here 4 sure!

This is directly from the Hpi website.

The heart of the Savage 25 is the powerful new Nitro Star S-25 that has 20% more displacement than the previous model. It’s a .25 cubic inch (4.1cc) big block engine that features a billet aluminum heatsink head for extra cooling, dual bushing aluminum connecting rod, true ABC chrome sleeve construction for durability, and a simplified dual needle 7mm slide carburetor for easier tuning with a composite body for better performance at higher temperatures. The new S-25 is so powerful that we were able to gear the truck for higher top speeds, yet still retain excellent punch off the line. A high speed spur gear (49T) and larger clutchbell (15T) are now standard equipment, and we also include an 18 tooth clutchbell high speed on-road driving! Customers will immediately notice that the Savage 25 has more punch and higher top speed.

The savage25 is a great truck nd fast but just is not fast out of the box as a regular Revo 2.5 if not the revo 3.3. Revo was designed to be fast and handle well. The Savage was built to be tough, durable with a lot of grunt. Having had both, you would need to re-gear the savage to run with the Revo. The plust about the Savage rides is that it is big block ready where the Revo is not.

i see one on ebay :farting: (akkk ebay) and it has the following:

3 SPEED GEARBOX FITTED (2 SPEED GEARS INCLUDED)

REVERSE MODULE FITTED

HITEC HS-645MG HIGH TORQUE STEERING SERVO FITTED (STANDARD INCLUDED)

HPI DUAL DISK BRAKE SET FITTED(ORIGINAL INCLUDED)

UNDERTRAY FITTED(HOME MADE FROM 316 GRADE STAINLESS STEEL PLATE)

SPIDER DIFFERENTIAL MODIFICATION FITTED

WHEELIE BAR FITTED

TANK GUARD FITTED

INDUCTION FILTER FITTED

6 VOLT HUMP BACK BATTERY PACK FITTED + CHARGER

FAIL SAFE DEVICE FITTED

EXHAUST EXTENDER FITTED

STAINLESS STEEL SCREW SET FITTED

UPRATED TRACK CONTROL ARMS FITTED(ORIGINALS INCLUDED)

so would you say this is re-geared enough to run with the revo?

maybe i should just go for a revo afterall?

Its all in the eye of the beholder.

When I say regear.. I really mean regear the tranny. If you run an 18/52 or even the 18/49 gearing mated to the 3 speed and a S-25 engine, you would be doing some decent speed runs.

I suggest savage as you can drop in say a LRP 28 Spec 3 engine and it will up the power of your ride.
