Ok I have my choices set for the on road car.
1)Duratrax Street Force GP
2)tc3 kit with .15 os engine andd radio
3)HPI RS4 3
I don't know which is a good choice for racing. Duratrax is that any good?
I don't know
Well I'm going to the :llama: farm now.

AE for Racing or racing/bashing

HPI bashing

Duratrax.. for collecting dust in LHS...X

I have an RS4 3, it's a lot of fun running it on the parking lots. The one good thing is that parts are available in almost any hobby store (out here in L.A. at least). There's a good amount of hop ups for it too. There's HPI, Integy, Hot Bodies, Wolfpack, etc.

I like the tc3 as well. I'm thinking of getting one in July. I think you could do more on it as far as tuning as oppose to the RS4 3.
You'll also be able to buy a motor if you build a TC3. The RS4 3 type ss has the 12rss. It's a good motor, but I'm not a fan of it. I couldn't catch up with Mjime714's Yokomo GT4. So I swapped it out for an O.S. Hyper CVX 15. Then a couple of weeks later he swapped his stock motor for an RB. Now I'm back to being the slower one...sorry I'm veering off.

As far as the Duratrax, I have not seen anyone with it locally.

Don't get a Duratrax unless your hobby shop has parts for it. Either that or you have lots of time waiting for orders from tower... Both Ae and Hpi have good supports, so I'm pretty sure your local hobby shop will have parts for it. If you want more adjustablity, then go with the TC3.

007, where do you guys run?

What type of surfaces are you planning on running? If you are not going to be on a dedicated clean track all the time I suggest getting a shaft drive. One rock in your belt and your done. I have a RS4 3 but it takes a few mods before it is a screamer, the SS is pretty damn nice right out of the box, The NTC 3 is a very nice car as well. Both are shaft drive.

I'd go with the TC3. I like HPI alot also But my story goes as such Bought a HPI rtr Need to buy the HPI ss liked it alot did alot to. Buddy had TC3 for sale bought it LOVE it no longer shopping. Car handles better then the RS4 ss but made the ss handle pretty close to theTC3. Its a toss up There both good cars. Can tell you one thing for sure dont buy the duratraxx there dust collecters. Therre not the most user friendly for beginers. You'll get frustrated. You want a good running car to have fun not work on all the time that will come soon enough with all the tinkering you be doing to get alitte faster and to take corners alittle tighter!

We run in a few places. But we seem to meet up with a regular group of guys out at the Rose Bowl.

Akina, are you in the L.A. area as well? If so, where do you run?

someone is making fun of my dust bucket.

Duratrax is not quality but they are afordable. My prebuilt ST was $159. I think it's a great buy if you're on a budget. Not all of us have money shooting out the arse. The components are crap; I'll admit. If stuff doesn't break, how are you going to learn how to fix it? :) Besides, there isn't one piece that is really a lot of money. If I break everything on it once, I'll have a good car. :p

Damn Flip, You're getting a Savage, Tmaxx, Titan and an onroad car all this year? Wish I had that kind of dough. If I did, I would buy one really good car and hop it up like mad and buy a bunch of spare parts.

Anyway, If you want to race on a track for competition, the NTC3 is your best bet off your list. The RS4 3 is more a basher like everyone is saying, but with a little dough you could make it more competitive and race ready. Kinda like 007's His does not look like a stock Kit SS anymore.

i own a streetforce GP

I purchased the Duratrax as my first entry into onroad nitro. And here are my comments based upon the 4 months I have had it.
1. It is a good car, not great. It breaks very easily due to the narrow chassis
2. It is very fast, but has crappy suspension and tires, which makes it almost impossible to control, and the RTR radio it comes with is garbage.
3. Even though I broke it in perfectly, it still has problems running, and overheating.
4. It comes with no building instructions, so you have to figure alot out for yourself. Parts are very cheap though, when you can find them.
---overall, it is a good car for the money, but after all the aftermarket stuff I had to buy, such as a better radio, broken parts, bumpers, tires...I could have spent less, and got an HPI or AE product. It has belts to, which have been digesting rocks ever since I got it.
----bottom line: dont get it - start out with a better product, my NTC3 kit arrives on Friday!!!! Sorry this post is so long.

I say NTC3, i got an rtr as my first nitro car, it have been running good ever since, it is easy to adjust, and the hop up are easy, great to learn on. I dont have to worry about rocks n stuff cuz it is shaft drive, it has no huge downfalls, and even though there are still ones fast, this one keep up with them! all i have to do is learn how to steer properlly and i will be amongst the head of the pack, then i will add the 2 speed!

Rose bowl eh? How far is it from Hobby people? I've never been to the Rose bowl before, so I got no idea how far is it from me. I'm around the El Monte area, when I'm around LA... I'll see if I got time to meet up with u guys during a running day. Let me know on AIM or something....

Hobby people on Lake in Pasadena? It's about a 5-10 minute drive from there.

Yeah man come on by. It's beginning to look more like a family atmosphere. RC nuts bringing their cars and their family. You just have to watch out, sometimes there just too many of us running, you know channels and all.

We usually get together on Saturdays at around 3:00. That is if the weather is right and there are no events at the Rose Bowl. We usually go bashing out at other places for our Savages. But we may head for the Rose Bowl too. Every third Sunday the Rose Bowl has a flea market, so we try other places. We usually run on parking lot K or on the black top across from it.

i just saw that pic of your Supercharged tc3 ... looks CRAZY cool ... how does that work ? does it really do anything ? i know how superchargers work for real cars. but i dont think this is in the same category

I own a hpi rs4 3 and its good and all but needs serious power. The rtr version is weak with the .15fe but the ss version with the .12rss is plenty fast. But like nc nitro said...needs a lil bit of hop ups...
