This is a noob but if you look at my name I am a noob ;)

I am thinking about upgrading my brothers stampede with a new engine what is the diffrence between brush and brushless? Remember I am new ;)

Have one more noob ? whats "piston at BDC" mean and why would you do that

Brushless motors need very little if any maintanace where a brushed motor the brushes will get worn out and will need to be replaced. Brushed motors need to be kept clean to work at their best.
 
I dont see why not. If you go decide to go brushless you will need to get a esc that is made for brushless motors.
 
Just remember if it was not made for electric than fabrication will more than likely be one of your steps. Ask Sweetdiesel and his Brushless Truggy.
 
With brushless you get more power, less maintenance but you need to use quality batteries and a good charger to take care of your batteries...you will be disappointed with cheap 6 cell stick packs.
