hi ,newbie old guy need help picking engine for my st-r[ordered].too many engines to choose from,i have owned mbx4xr+mbx5. this is my first truggy,my list so far is rossi black magic.novarossi p5,rb ws7,werks collari 21b7,sirio evo2,sts d21t.if you could tell me of these engines type of power and reliability.thanks

Welcome to rcnt!

First off I would definatly NOT go with the black magic. It is way overpriced, the low end that it has is uncontrolable, and has basically no top end!

The p5, ws7III, and werks would be my choise. If you want to go on the cheaper end go with the werks and an os 2050 pipe. With the p5 go with a jp2 pipe, and with the ws7 go with a 086 pipe. You will not be disapointed with any of these setups.

The p5 is a bottem end mill with decent top end.
the ws7 2 or 3 is a decent bottem end with great top.
The werks powerband is concentrated more for top end, but is not quiet as much as the rb, and the bottom end is not quite as much as the p5. It is also about $80 US cheaper then the other two.

The v-spec is very strong all around, it works well with the 2050 pipe. I have read that some people have had problems with the bearings, but I have not had one so I cannot give a definate answer about that.

I finally decided (with help from RCTire) on the P5X. I was back and forth between the P5 and V-spec. A couple others on another forum said the front bearing issue on the V-spec had been resolved and they had not had any problems. Should be getting my P5X this week, still need to pick up a new starter box but kinda hope to be running by the weekend with the LSP.

thanks for the info, i like a flat powerband,so werks or vspec.i have a os 2030 pipe i thought it would be like the 2050.i am glad you can be running so soon,no indoor track here,so early april for me.

Either of those are good choices. corradopsi has run the V-spec and I have driven it several times. It is a screamer. More of a top end mill, but so is the B7. So if you are running a medium to large track, either will work very well for you. I would use the P5 on smaller to medium tracks.
