Hello all. This is my 2nd post. 1st one was stating how my saveage 25 did a flip in a lake - long story short water everywhere. Took the motor apart and displaced all the water. Put it all back together and it actually runs.
Here's the problem. I believe I need to 'tune' the motor now. It doesn't seem to want to idle, and when it does run it seems to be running so high it is trying to get away. I know this is simple for alot of you guys out there so any beginner help would be nice. I read the instructions for tunning the motor - high speed, low speed, idle screw adjustments. The idle screw doesn't seem to do anything. While its running (high rpm) I turn the idle screw and it will speed up but not slow down. Now if I have this right default setting is high screw 4 1/2 turns out from tight, low end I think is 2 1/2 -- idle is something about 2mm.. So without using any unknow words to me can you simply tell me what I should/ shouldnt be doing.
At first it would run for a few seconds then seemed to backfire and stall, fuel everywhere. Sometimes it will run until I remove the glo plug starter thingy.
Thanks for any help.

First step (which you already did) is to return the needles to their factory settings. Check your fuel lines and tank for any water. If there's still some, flush it with denatured alcohol. Make sure your air filter is clean and oiled. Fresh fuel and glow plug. As far as the idle goes, one key is to make sure the throttle trim knob on the transmitter is turned so the trim is toward the most braking. When you turn the knob, you should see the servo slightly opening and closing the carb. Turn it all the way in the closed direction. Then start the truck. You should then be able to lower the idle until it's comfortable. It sounds like the throttle servo/linkage is holding the carb open and not letting it drop to normal idle.

If the truck took a bath, your servo's might not be working.
Make sure the linkage is closing the carb (at idle position).
Never run the truck without the radio on or with bad servo's.
