I just put a new piston, sleeve and connecting rod in my picco .26 max.I use the tiger hex starter with my drill to start it and when i turn the motor over i hear a clicking sound. So i took the glow plug out and if i turn it over without the glow plug it doesn't do it.I use OS A3 glowlugs. So i took the cooling head off to check for indentions on the piston thinking maybe the glow plug was hitting the piston but i didnt see anything. But if i try to put my finger over the hole for the glowplug and turn it over it pushes the whole piston sleeve up and if i try to keep it still i can hear the ticking sound.i tried to give yall all the info i could think of.can anyone help.

It seems to me like the the head button might be whats making the sound. There was 2 shims between the piston sleeve and the head button and there is a gap between the block and the head button.

there will always be a noticable gap between the button and block...as you can see the button fits into the sleeve a good amount...the gap is there also for helping with cooling...I'm really not understanding the clicking noise tho...you didnt put the rod and piston in backwards did you..as in the cut in the piston skirt faces towards the carb on the motor right??

Pin hole in connecting rod towards the carb and the long part of the skirt on the piston toward the exhaust.right?

Should the piston sleeve be flush with the block?mine isnt

Did you line up the slot in the sleeve with the slot in the block??? Sleeve should sit flush if not maybe 10 thou. above.

I figured it out.It was the tiger gear starter. The one way bearing went out.so i got my drill on as low as itll go.
