hi i have a rs4 rtr3 that i just bought used. it has a .12 cv-rx engine, and this thing is pretty fast. but i keep on breaking dogbones on the rear shaft. what can be the cause of this? is there any cure? or do i just have replace them everyday? i need you opinions and suggestions, thanks a lot guys

that engine is quite fast, but the RS4 should be able to handle it without a problem. I would check to see how much play you have in the rear shafts when the shocks are fully compressed and extended. Alot of times, if not adjusted properly, when the shocks move to their outer limits, the dogbones almost fall out of the drive cups. if they were to catch on the edge of the drive cup, they would almost certainly break. This problem can also be resolved by purchasing CVD's

Could he "shim" the dogbones with some O-rings in the drive cups to help with the amount of play?

yes - although the best method is to use small pieces of fuel tubing. This is how i eliminate the play on my EB4

I have also shimmed bones with the P4 o-ring on my Storm. It worked great! Lots less chatter and ran smoother.

thanks. i will try the O ring solution. by the way, how much is cvd's for rs4 3 usually cost me?? thanks

If $ is an issue, you might wanna check out HOT BODIES, for around 40$ you can get a set of shiny universal shafts.cheaper than c-vd but the same theory. I have them on my ss running the .15 CVR-X

cv-d's are way too expensive for me right now. the other option is to use an O ring. where can i get them? and how much are they? thanks for all the help guys....

i think you get the wrong idea, cause the one that breaks is the one that connects to the 2 speed. to be exact, the dogbones that breaks are the one that is connected to the break. i have not try to put the O rings, but i will today, and i'll keep you guys updated. thanks
