I got a Temp. gun and after running savage for almost a tank of gas the gage reads 230-244 degrees farenhight. Is this too lean or is it good, my friend found out that his was 300+ and richened it, lol

i just got a new very big head and i richened it just a tad and without sputtering, the engine got down 2 174 degrees with running it hard @ full throttle most of the time. And it runs the best i've ever had it run. it did sputter after hitting second gear that's why i posted this thread. ppl have said the new head would bring the engine temp. down alot

The big heads are excellent for bringing down the temp. If you notice a sputtering hitting second, you can lean it out some more. After you add a better cooling head, it needs to be retuned for best response. Temps below 200 do not give you the best efficiency, since the engine is actually too cool for good ignition of the fuel.

That's the same head I put on mine. Excellent choice.

it runs without any sputtering on the low end or high end and has noticably more power and top end

Sweet gotta get one. hopefully next week. I just blew my 2 week budget for r/c stuff on the 4 shock set up.

i did lean it out some cause the engine kept shuting off every time i let it idle due 2 temps on the low 170's, this head is too good, lol
