Well I wanted to do the same thing and most of the replies I got are that as long as you have your slipper set right you will be fine for a while but eventually things like the drive shafts and diffs will go but those you just replace as they go. If you have tranny problems you can upgrade the gears inside.
 
Ya it's pretty straight forward. But if it's going to break, it will break regardless of 2.5 or 3.3. Go for it!

bumps and jumps on pavement WILL break parts. so keep the power down a little.
