RC Driving Style
I'm thinking of replacing my 2.5 with a new engine. I like the 3.3 but recently saw the Dynamite mach2. My only question is how does the exhaust mount? does it have a bolt on manifold like the Traxxas 3.3 or does it use the spring around the engine body? Does anybody know?

A few things to think about here, if your current driveline is the standard 2.5 style stuff even the 3.3 will chew it up a bit, the motor your talking about is the big red I think which is a big block and will tear your truck apart quik in its current form, also this is not a drop In replacement so you will need an extended chassis, pipe , header, clutch, bell, ect....it is a rear port exaust like the 3.3, if there are plenty of really good drop in motors out there, imo an os .21 is a great drop in for a trx

I just did this with my 2.5 last week. It is a drop in replacement and the header is attached with a spring that is provided. Took me about 10 min to do the swap and just finished my last break in tank last night. Motor is strong and easy to tune with the smallest of increment changes. So far so good, I would recommend the engine. I am using O.S. 8 glo plugs with it and works fine. You can use all your current stuff to bolt to the motor, you will not need a new clutch bell, extended chasis, pipe and so on. The EZ start bolts right up to it as well but might be better to go with a pull start. The O.S. motor is a fantastic motor nut your looking at an additional $60 over the Dynamite Mach 2. The Mach 2 is actually cheaper than the 3.3.

chaos, it looks like a great swap. Would you say the motor is easier or harder to tune then the traxxas? Keep us informed how it goes. Thanks

I think the ease of tune is going to depend on how you break it in. I had no issues with previous 3.3 motors in my other trucks. If you break it in poorly, I believe that you motor will not hold a tune well but if you do it by the book, you will have an easy motor to tune. There are so many variables can play a part in the way your motor runs with climate being a major factor. I live in Southern Cal so weather does not make it much of a factor. It was 82 on Christmas day. I would say to go ahead and get it, you wont be sorry. The carb alone is way better on the Mach2, and right off the bat, the mach 2 is not as finicky as the 2.5.

That looks kike the .19 which is in fact a drop in engine, I was under the impression deves wanted a big red

I switched over to the pull start today, got sick of caring around the wand. The .19 will take the standard 3.3/2.5 pull start. I got lucky and it started on the second pull but had a hard time catching after that. The one way bearing I pulled from the EZ start I guess is pretty worn kinda like the rest of the truck when I got it.
