I have broken in my savage and i find when i idle the engine will idle nicely for 5 secs then it will start to splutter and the truck rocks forward, ready to move. Have i got the LSN setup wrong or the idle screw wrong?

LSN not the idle... but 99% of the time it is due to the weather... and if it rocks forward your high speed needle is too lean that your clutch is starting to catch.... what engine do you have?

My engne is the HPI.25. I have closed the HSN from 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 turns from closed can i close it any more? What do you suggest i do about both the HSN and the LSN?

Yes it has been cold and damp here. Should i leave things as they are then or adjust it now for the winter and then when the summer comes change it again?

No, the colder weather you need to run it a little richer, if you are in doubt set it back to factory specs and tune from there, use your temp gun if you have one (if not get one, well worth the money) the LSN setting from factory is usually pretty good and you should really stick to only adjusting the HSN untill you get the hang of adjusting that one, then venture into the LSN........

The Four Rules Of Engine Tuning

1. Rich is good. Blue smoke should always be coming from the exhaust.

2. Always set the high-speed needle first

3. Never try to tune a cold engine—wait for it to get up to operating temperature.

4. Always begin your engine tuning from a rich high-speed needle setting. Never start out with a lean setting.

 Thanks i think i will reset all the factory settings and start again, it is the easiest way to do it.
