Hey,
MY savage's stock .21 bb engine has stripped screws in the back plate and crank case. Just broke my 2nd pullstart and have decided its time for my new engine. I'm looking towards ofna picco .26 or the ofna 8 port i think its called. Anyways, I'm looking for a RELIABLE engine. Easiest starting possible using pullstart, good performance. Engine doesn't have to be the fastest on the block, just want it running and preferably not eating up a gear everytime i run it. Also, a wheelie would be nice for once. Suggestions are all welcome. Again, this is going on a savage 21.

I just put an OS21rg-x in my storm, I also have a OS15cv-rx in my ntc3, I wanted a reliable and ez starting engine for both and they have been extremly good engines so far, very ez to tune and when broken in properly will last a very long time! there are lots of mills to choose from, the xtm 24.7 is also a good replacment mill for the savage if you like wheelies! but not as reliable as an OS mill. I dont know much about the mills you listed but know people with the 8 port and they dont complain obout them other than a few tuning issues good luck!

will the savage with a picco with stock gearing burn up the gears

Also, will i be able to bolt it onto the current engine mount?

The thing that determines gear life is cleanliness and mesh settings.

All the above bolt-in I believe.

Adjust your slipper nut... If it's meshed properly, you shouldn't have any problems. Haven't had one spur mess up on me since I had it. Going on about one year now...

Here is another idea. Why not take advantage of the HPI engine exchange. Send that broken .21bb plus a hundred bones to HPI and get a brand spanking new S-25. Save a few bucks on a new engine and get rid of that paperweight at the same time. :)

I just finished breaking in a Hyper 8 port for my Savage. The initial break in was a bear just because the compression is so damn tight. But with a good pair of gloves and the loosing of the glow plug a quarter turn I was able to break in the engine. Now I can start the engine on the first or second pull. :)

my advise is that you decided on upgrading your engine you need to upgrade a few parts... here what I did for my WASP 26 (OutLaw 26)

RRP Metal Spur Gear
4 spider diff
Diff liquid
3 clutch fly wheel
3 aluminum shoes
CVEC Tuned pipe

these parts are a must...

I'm literally too frightened to ask what experiment you tried to find out this part...

I run the Ofna Hyper 21 8-Port. Great engine, great power, plenty of speed...just requires strength, patience and a good pair of gloves during break in.

There are several engines that would be great replacements for the stock .21BB. I think the best for the price has already been mentioned, and that would be HPI's engine swap program. Check it out.

Other than that the only limit on your engine upgrade should be your wallet.
