Last week, I broke in my Revo Engine.

Today I ran the truck again on my 6th tank and let it rip. After the first tank, I could see alot of blue smoke-engine temps ranged from 270-290 so I leaned out the high speed and again ran. The car was running great, high end speed but temperatures were going up to 317. I could see a little smoke from the glow plug so I turned off the car and let it cool down. I richened the needle and ran again, temperatures were around 280-290 no smoke from the glow plug but the car was not giving me a good punch. What do I do? If I lean out the high speed, it gets too hot and if I leave it the way it is, I can feel there is so much more that can be had.

Also I know a lot of people say to remove the electric glow start wire from the glow plug. I really like it, but have noticed in just two outings that the wire is beginning to strip, are there any precautions I can take with the wire, its quite hard to pull it out without using some force.

Thanks!

First thing you should do is richen the crap out of that thing. Even my 2.5 dosent run over 250. In my oppion you should never see temps over 290.

I have to check but I've noticed that with the body off the temps are fine, perhaps I need to put more air vents in my lexan body. Its already too rich, thats the reason for my question, I can tell because I see lots of smoke and fuel burns very quickly. The other issue can be my fuel, I have using Duratrax Red Alert 20% because I had plenty, maybe when I change fuels the engine will run cooler.

I'm kind of weird. I run Kool Power 15%. It's a heli fuel that tends to run really cool.

imo if it is truely running well then is might be just the engine (others correct me if I'm wrong) there could be other factors. id be surprised if you didn' ru it again with different temps. For some reason the Texas weather does random things to my temps and two sessions are never the same for me.

and as for your wire, go get some heat shrink tubing from you lhs or lowes or whatever andfind a piece that fits over the wire losely, you don't want a perfect fit or when it shrinks it will make that spring to tight. cut a piece ~1" long and fit it over the tip and heat it with a lighter or candle....
If it has gotten to torn up you can get a new blue wire from you lhs and replace it. You end up having to like cut the old one and add on to it with the new one. good luck

I use a piece of fuel line over the spring and wire that gives some strain relief because you pull more on the spring then the wire.

As for the tuning, my Revo likes it aroung 270 but depending on the day that can vary. As for the tuning your low end punch can be affected by a few things...LSN a little rich. Battery charge may be a little low and your servo may be sluggish because of it. Another thing could be brake drag. And still another could be the slipper setting.

Overall, I am betting on the LSN needing to be just a little more lean.
