my gs storm rtr engine will die when it idles for a while and if i go full throttle it will die. Help..pleasE! I have new mcoy mc-59 and a brand new glow starter with new battery so they arent the problem. i dunno what to do! please put in some tips or help. :dumb:

usually - if the engine dies after idleing for a while - it means your LSN is too rich. if u die when u r at full throttle - then that usually means your HSN is too Lean.
---------
let the vehicle idle for about 5-8 seconds, then floor it. does it jump off the line, or stutter for a minute? if it stutters then the LSN is too rich.
--------
at full throttle, does it sound like its missing or hesitating before it stalls? if so - this means its too lean. it would have to be EXTREMELY rich to make it stall, and that would be super obvious. so i am assuming that the problem is too lean.

:help: I can't tune if my life counted on it, eh...mjime will help me this saturday when we bash together at the rosebowl. I will see if I could tune it myself by doin those lil tests that u listed, i think its too lean.

smurf - u need to learn to tune - DONT LET MJIME do it! allow him to tell u what to do, but u need to figure it out on your own, or u will always be asking for other peoples help.

If you are going to be in the world of nitro you are going to have to learn how to tune. I was scared of it at first but the article I read in my RC Car Action really demystified tuning a nitro engine. The biggest thing you need is patients. Once you find the sweet spot it will be worth it.

The following chunk if info was posted by NA in a previous post. I liked the information so much that I made a Word document out of it, printed it out and put it in my field box. So when I am having problems I will take a break from it, read this, and go back to the problem at hand.

===========================
If there is one thing I have learned it is that every engine will start. There are only four things that make a nitro engine run:

Fuel
Air
Compression
Combustion

All of these things must be in effect to start. So lets check them out.

Fuel: Can you see the fuel going from the line into the carb?

Air: Is the carb opening, is the airfilter clean?

Compression: Is there compression? If it is a new engine you should be ok. You can check it by manually turning the flywheel with your thumb, it should be almost impossible to do.

Combustion: Have you checked the
glow plug on the igniter while it is out of the car, and made sure it glows bright?

If all these things check out than it can only be one thing: You need to adjust the mixture of the fuel and air.

ok, i will let mjime help me tune it, i will do the actual tuning but he will just point me in the right direction.:ponder: i have an article on tuning, imma go look at that in a hour

:hi: thats me! wow - i feel special - now just sign right here to secure my new home mortgage :contract:

I got the perfect tune, it was really really lean. I richened it up about a 5 or 6/8ths of a turn and this thing RIPS! It has a nice steady stream of exhaust, dunno bout temp but it seems fine. it runs real nice and starts up on about the 2nd pull. It runs like a pimp. I drove it next to a Benz when it was driving, the driver was like "HOLY :OMG: A RC CAR IS DRIVING RITE NEXT TO US AND IS KEEPING UP" Then I sped up and did a brake turn, then sped towards myself. it was dope.
