when i'm driving my savage x around and then apply the break the servo breaks like its suppose to but when i release the break the engine revs up without me touching the gas and the servo is in idling position. and the only way for me to get the egine to stop revving is to floor it for a few seconds and then everything goes back to normal. if anyone has any tips on how i can fix it i would appreciate it

Sounds like you need to adjust the lsn, from what I understand the engine is loading up with fuel at idle. Does it bog down when you go to take off? Or do you give it a little blip of the throttle before taking off?

It sounds like you need to adjust your throttle return spring. This is located on your throttle linkage and there should be a round set collar you can move a little towards your servo to tighen the spring a little more. On both sides of the throttle servo arm there are 2 adjustments one for brakes and the other is for your throttle return spring.

It sounds like your trim is off. Try adjusting the trim, if it won't adjust enough, you'll have to center the linkage. With your engine off, remove the air filter and check you gap. If it closes more when you apply the brakes, that means you're actually under throttle when you let off. Your gap should be around 1mm, when idling.

I'm pretty tired right now, so I may be making my explanation a lot harder than it needs to be.

I was going to also add this thought but was burned out myself that evening than thought about it after I shut down the PC for the evening ;)

After centering your throttle servo on the Transmitter ...... I will add if the throttle closes slowly after you release the throttle then you may need to add more tension on your throttle return spring so it pushes the throttle closed faster.

Back in the early days there were no inline throttle return springs and they were all external than were installed by the driver of the car. My 2002 Mugen MTX-3 has one that I had to go to a hardware store and buy a spring. If the battery died when running it had to be strong enough to pull the trottle servo to the closed position. Saved my butt once or twice before they invented Fail Safes with low battery detection.

I definitely think its a tune thing more than a linkage problem. However I would definitely check your linkage to see if its binding somewhere. Another thing is what kind of receiver battery are you running? If you're running 4 aa's then the servo could be glitching from lack of power. If you're running 4 aa's you might want to upgrade to a rechargeable receiver pack.

If you are still runnng the AA battery pack it is fairly easy to install a NiMH Hump Pack. You will have better connections if you have a Soldering Iron with the instructions I am going to give you.

First thing is purchase a Hump Pack 1400Mh or higher. Cut the BEC Connector off your 4 cell battery pack. Then about one inch from the battery on one of leads cut it.

On the other lead stagger it about 1/2 inch when you cut it. Stripped all the wires back.

Twisted the three Leads together on the Positive Lead and solder it. Than do the same on the Three Negative Leads.

Wrap the leads with electrical tape. Staggering the wires makes sure they will never make contact on the battery pack after tapeing it back together for protection.

Connect the BEC Connector back to your on/off switch and hang the Futaba Style lead out of the battery box for a chrage lead. You will not need to open the battery box for a long time.

This suggestion also assumes you have a battery charger for the NiMh Battery pack.

where would I get one of the battery packs and if I do get it does it come with a charger or do I have to buy it seperately?

I fixed the problem where the egine revs for no reeason but now the engine will bog down or stop when i take off. do i have to adjust the high/low speed needles or is it the trim i need to adjust

I think that your throttle linkage (the wire) is dragging in the plastic piece that it goes through on the servo horn. I suggest either 1) put a rubber band around the carburetor at attach it to the wire linkage or 2) put a collar and spring on the wire linkage between the carburetor and plastic piece on the servo arm. Adjust the collar so that the carburetor does not open when you let off of the brakes.
