Living in a relatively urban area I am trying to find a way to reduce the motor noise of my T-Maxx. Is there a special muffler to reduce the engine noise ?? I know that I will lose performance but I don't care.

I'm pretty close to selling this thing for that reason and going electric.

The "ignore the neighbors" response is not acceptable. I need to quiet this thing down. I would think that SOMEONE SOMEWHERE makes a "neighborhood friendly" muffler.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can do things that help make it quieter, but I don't know of anything that will "silence" it like on a normal 1:1 auto.

Get a muffler that you can point through the chassis at the ground and don't drive on pavement. When the tip is pointing into the grass, it makes it much quieter. Also, add a du-bro exhaust deflector, it takes the bite out of the exhaust note. Instead of getting a new exhaust (the stock 2.5 one is already pretty quiet IMO), just get the deflector and point it at the ground.

I say save the T-Maxx for job site, tracks, or anywhere noise doesn't matter so much, and buy an E-Maxx for the house. I'm always of the opinion more is better when it comes to RC.

Problem is, I don't have access those places. I live across the street from an elementary school where there is a nice field and blacktop playground. The school is surrounded by single family homes.

Has anyone acually complained? I would think that if it was day light hours, say 10am to 7, or 8pm, and the city didn't care, that anyone would have alot to complaine about. I don't know your neighborhood, but it would be hard to complain if it wasn't all day everyday don't you think. Maybe in the Track/Buddy locator forum you can find a track in your area. I also like going to where they are building new neighborhoods after hours, or on the weekends. They make great places to bash if you get there at the right stage.

my mom works in law enforcment and the noise ordanance is pretty much the same every where in you can use a lawnmower in your area you can drive your car if I were you I would call the police and ask.
but if you want to quite it you could run a tube from the stinger to the back of the top a frame and zip tie it down that is what I do it is not totally silent but it works.
this works be cause the ehxuast cools a bit so when it comes out it is not so hot and wont expand as fast causeing sound
