Hey, I have an Schumacher (nanda) swift, and wandering if a Schumacher picco x28 would fit in, my nitro car is a buggy and is completely standard at the moment, of someone could help me with the engine question that would be great what could I also do to improve the speed and performance? Thanks
 
A .28 would definitely make it faster. Sometimes too fast. Most people run a .21 in buggies and truggies, but if you want it built for pure speed than a .28 may be what you want. Also getting a clutch bell with less teeth will increase your top speed but also decrease acceleration if you make too big of a change. I run a .21 team orion engine in my buggy with a 14T clutch bell which I may change for a 13T which is what I run in my truggy which has a .21 dynamite engine. My truggy is faster than my buggy but also takes more time to reach top speed. A .21 should be plenty fast for a buggy considering its smaller size and the difference in fuel consumption. A .28 sucks up noticeably more fuel than a .21 meaning more $spent on fuel and a shorter run time. Also if your running fuel with less than 25% or 30% fuel you can get a little more performance by moving up to 25% or 30% but remember moving up to a higher nitro % means it runs hotter (leaner) and you shouldnt drop down to a lower %. Another tip dont run more than 30% nitro.

Actually a clutch bell with less teeth will give you less top speed and more acceleration. A smaller spur gear will give more top speed...

I will agree a .21 is probably more practical and plenty fast especially on a buggy. In today I saw a losi 8ight with a dynamite .21 when I was at the track and it was stupid fast even running rich.

woops I wasn't thinking when I typed it. I got the 2 swapped around by mistake. More teeth means more speed, less means more acceleration. I got my clutch bells mixed up my buggy has a 13T and my truggy has a 14T. I was going to change my 13T to a 14T. Might help if I reread what I typed lol.

I run a cheaper dynamite .21 in my 8ight t which is also fast not stupid fast, but enough to keep up with the competition. I paid less than $150 for it new. The more expensive ones are much faster and possibly even better on fuel than the one I have. I'm just not willing enough to slap a $200+ engine in my 8ight t (not the 2.0) when it breaks parts like crazy (seems like every other jump.) It handles nice but as far as reliability goes I'm not a fan. Will be making switch to Kyosho soon (Which is why my profile name is ND Kyosho even though I dont own a Kyosho yet. I run a lot of Kyosho parts in my XTMs and they take one heck of a beating.)
 
yeah after I typed that I reread my own and doubted myself, lol. I don't know what this dude had in his eight other than the dynamite but MAN it flew. Its possible maybe it was a 28 so I could be wrong.

Not a single person I race runs a .28 or anything other than a .21 and some of them fly like a bat out of hell. Super fast but they also spend $300 + on their engines alone without an exhaust. More than likely thats what that guy had. Possibly the .24 truggy engines some companies are coming out with. Only issue with them is yet again fuel consumption.
 
Well this dudes eight was all custom. He just broke in the dynamite and I know he's sponsored by horizon so he got the engine free and the rig 90% off lol. I know he said it was a $179 dynamite...he got free. I just assumed a .21. Was fun to watch bit made my truck feel so slow lol

I know some of those sponsored guys make it look easy. I'm not sure though if Dynamite makes a engine larger than .21 at that price. Its ridiculous how many top of the line companies horizon hobby owns... I'm personally not a fan of huge companies like horizon hobby that buys out all of the competition like they have. I kinda lose respect for some of their companies. I prefer companies that focus on improving their products over companies that worry about the other competitors and buy them out to basically eliminate them. Thats just how I see Horizon Hobby. Others might disagree but thats just how I see it.

A .21 is all you need for a buggy. It revs higher and gives you more top-end than a .26 or .28 which offer more torque.
