Well tell me if I am the only one who notices this. Ok any race engine that I have seen for a buggy with some exceptions is set for 25% nitro. Mostly in Europe and Japan where these engines come from they race with 25% from what I can gather. Well here in America you go try to find 25% at any LHS. Sure you can find it online but it is very scarce. Is it just my area or is 25% pretty scarce stuff? I see 20% and 30% all over the place but no 25%?

I've never seen 25% at a lhs, but on the low end of 20-30% ONE lhs does stock 16%. Trinity Monster I think, but don't quote me.

I've seen O'donnel 25% and 35% in gallons. I think trinity platinum ( the pink stuff ) makes 25%.

That's a na-no on the Trinity HP, I checked it out. I know OD makes 25% and most buggy racers use that fuel. Can you even buy that stuff online? I have never seen it. linky anyone, anyone, Bueluer? Just seems wierd all these engines come preshimmed for the 25 but we just don't have that here, at least where it is easily available. Anyone got Odonnel plug?

I'm not quoting you on this, just showing your quote. If you saw 16%, it was the oil content, not the nitro.

LOL...MM and I shop in the same areas, and I have seen 25% enough times to ask the store owners why they carry it.

Just about everywhere in the states of Rhode Island and Massachusetts I can only find 20%; everyone has Blue Thunder. A few guys use O'Donnel 30% but I don't know where they get it.

I know some novarossi engines recommend 25% like the one my friend has, but we just can't get it. Having the stuff shipped from somewhere is not cheap either, there's often an extra charge for hazmats.

Maybe you could ask your LHS to order some.

I get frustrated (my own fault) that I can't get 25% and try to make up for it with different glows plug using 20%. I just need to shim it for 30% an get with it huh?

Just get a 20% bottle and a 30% bottle from the same brand and mix it, you will get 25%. 25% is the maximum you will find in my country, we use 16% for bashing and 25% for racing, although some people mix it to get about 20%, don't know why.

I can find 25% at my LHS no problem. One of them it seems they only carry 16% and 20%, but the other shop I go to has 25% all of the time.

What is the reason you would use 16% for bashing and 25% for racing? Why not just use 25% all of the time?

I have mixed 10 and 30 to get 20, and it works just as well as straight 20, with no major needle adjustments required.

Liess nitro = less power and less RPM, so you will have a longer engine live, but with less nitro you have to take care of engine temperature.

One of the lhs here carries 10-40% in 5% increments.

Thats awesome... but your location is "South Placer County Foothills"... where the hell is that? :boating:

wa2fast, I read a magazine article that said higher nitro doesn't necessarily make the engine run hotter. Higher nitro fuel makes more power, so you can tune for lower temps and still have the power you need, or get more power for the same temp.

Right in the middle of gold country. Sacramento area, between SF and Reno. Be careful these questions high-jack the threads. The Track/Buddy Locator would be a proper place to search or maybe just pm the questions.
fyi
